yeah, back in my Muni days, if i suspected a seat might be contested, i sat down, figuring possession is 9/10's of Muni law.

Early comments on youtube yesterday were comedy gold, including translations... eg, there are a pair of old men off camera goading on the Chinese lady in Chinese:

"Hit her!"
"Yeah, hit her til she dies!"

i just remember taking the 19 a bunch of times where there'd be some guy with bleeding abscesses on his way to SF General.

eh kids don't tend to bother me as much as the crazy junkies cuz really you never know what the fuck a crazy junkie is gonna do (stab somebody, drop their pants, throw up, pick a fight, argue loudly about how Lou Reed was in Black Sabbath, etc.)

i actually dont mind the SFGH crowd as much -- i just give em a wide berth. i always find the haight kids are more apt to get up in your shit with their gnar dogs

i guess the real truth is that i have yet to experience anything truly wild on public trans in SF or oakland, but iatee seems right about this being the place for it

where is the thread about kids blasting music on their cell phones on the back of a bus? it was revived the other day and this conversation brought that to mind

when i lived in SF (12-13 years ago), I saw kids that I'd seen the previous hanging on the street with their dogs in Santa Cruz, and then I'd go to Berkeley on a date, and see them again.

Anyone know where you can buy proper (British style) bacon in SF? I got a pack of regular stuff here and it's mostly rubbery fat with a weird flavo(u)ring.
I have only been to a Safeway and a small Trader Joe's so far.

yeah crusty kids have never given me *any* problems and I've lived on both streets

heh - a few weeks ago I went to see my friend's new band play at the Long Haul in Berkeley (a lot of these kids were there), and there was this older guy who kept loudly exclaiming that he had crackers he'd be willing to share. The crazy old guys are more entertaining than the young crusties.

It's the kids getting out of school who make the most noise on the buses I take, though a bunch of us once 'politely escorted' a tweaker off the bus after he loudly exclaimed his hatred for SF 'cause it was all *various racial epithets*, fags and dykes.

actually that was on of the first times I'd ridden the bus (this was the F Line on Market, during the evening commute) and this obviously flaming gay guy in blue dolphin shorts and a beanie and other weird accoutrements got on, loudly shouting any and all racial epithets and insults to everyone around him. That guy got physically thrown off the bus though and a cop was called iirc.

other people thrown off the bus: greasy junkie in leather pants (who I'd previously noticed reading a copy of some Aleister Crowley book) gets on, demanding that a "nigger" give up his seat for him. which of course didn't go over very well. gang of young black guys proceeded to throw him off the bus, kicking him in the back on his way out. dude whipped out a knife when he picked himself up, but the bus had already moved on by then.

14 Mission Bus in the middle of summer - two sweaty, filthy tweakers get on, one with no shirt (and no teeth) and long mangled black hair. Shirtless tweaker is ogling passing women out the window, shouting sexual innuendos at clearly underage teenage girls etc.

dunno how his bus ride ended, I got off a couple stops later.

I won't say much or mind overmuch if you're off your meds, but it's when you think it wise to repeatedly say shit about black people when there are like 5 or 6 black dudes near you that I know you're seriously a danger to yourself and others. I was pretty happy that we just made him get off 'cause I wouldn't at all have been surprised if some one had beaten his ass.

well I've been riding the bus at least 2xday for 10+ years so ... um... yeah

I don't really ride it on the weekends anymore tho (now that I have a car and a baby), which has definitely cut down on the crazy. Mostly I only take the 27 and the 9 these days, which are fairly mellow.

On the 6 or 71, I get Haight-bound tourists, highschool students, commuters, etc... It can be pretty heteroclite.

yeah see for me the weirdest thing was when those black guys literally kicked him off the bus... y'know, people cheered. And the black guys were all proud and strutting and bragging about it. While my feelings about it were pretty mixed. I mean, sure the guy was being a jerk but he was also clearly unbalanced, and its not like ganging up on him took any real bravery or anything... and I'm kinda not down with people beating each other in general... it left a bad taste in my mouth.
