Shakey, a cursory inspection of my own misdeeds in adolescence added to the experience of taking the bus home from work now does not leave me with a stellar opinion of teenagers.

I was coming home late night on the 71 or 6, this scary disturbed guy - one of the types that seem like they could do something violent - asked the few people around me if he could borrow their cell phones, and they all said no pretty curtly. I wanted to be nicer, so when he asked me, I said sorry...I don't have it with me. Then...I remembered that I was expecting a call. He sat across from me - nobody else around, and I basically just prayed that it wasn't going to go off.

I've kind of given up on being 'cool' with people on MUNI (or in the street). If they want a cigarette and I don't want to give them one, I'll simply say, "Sorry. No." I don't really owe it to them and I don't mind being kind but I hate the implication of obligation.

xp more like curb id say but lets not split hairz

69, Thursday, 8 October 2009 23:00 (fourteen years ago) link

xp - one of these days, I am going to get my ass kicked for rudely telling someone "no" they can't have a cig.

one of my worst Muni experiences was when these two 13 or 14 year old kids were on a packed N-Judah during morning commute, goofing around, being really loud, and pushing each other into other riders. This older office-worker lady asked them nicely to stop, and one of them said, "shut up, Coffee-breath!" (which actually cracked me up, because it was true).

Anyway, I started getting pissed after they rammed into me a few times, so when the doors opened at Civic Center, I grabbed them both and pushed them out the door, and said something like, "get the fuck OFF!".

After the doors closed, the kids were kicking the train and spitting on the windows, and the other riders were thanking me and stuff.

When I got to work, this lady I work with was like, "hey thanks for throwing those rude kids off the train this morning", and I pretty much did a facepalm knowing someone I work with saw me do that.

haha I can't understand any of it cause I'm a native mandarin speaker (beijing dialect)

I'm v. tempted to show the video in class to my HK students and see if they can understand it...dunno if I'd get in trouble from the uni or not haha

it was in the dashboard. I was at rehearsal. but there are tweakers that live in the parking lot.

i actually left my ipod in my car in SF last night while I was eating at a taqueria in the Mission, but it wasn't in public view.

sarahel, Friday, 9 October 2009 20:05 (fourteen years ago) link

i am so anal about leaving stuff in the car. my gf got her car broken into, i believe because i left an empty pack of cigs on the floor.

haven't had my car window smashed in SF, though I did have my trunk broken into. Caught the guy in the act of rifling through the trunk. First thing the guy said, "This is my car."

this is kinda a weird story - I mean, I'm not saying the dude should have been beaten up (obviously that's ridiculous) but dude is a young latino guy, playing a street thug, and he doesn't know norteno gang colors/territory? wtf

the taint of Macca is strong (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 9 October 2009 20:53 (fourteen years ago) link

there's been a bunch of dumb gang shit lately. thanks for releasing all those prisoners, CA budget battle!

fucking republicans.

the taint of Macca is strong (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 9 October 2009 20:54 (fourteen years ago) link

er isn't a lot of the prisoner release stuff due to a court decision and vehemently opposed by the pubbies?

lou reed scott walker monks niagra (chinavision!), Friday, 9 October 2009 21:00 (fourteen years ago) link

although I don't doubt that budget concerns come into play with a lot of frequent early releases, maybe the the guy involved with the shooting at 24th/shotwell the other weekend.

[24th/shotwell

this was a Papa Potrero's, 1 block from my house. Perps were 20 and 16, victims were 40-something and 26. Perps were picked up within minutes, whole thing is caught on multiple videocameras. those dudes' lives are ruined.

CA budget releasing prisoners & encouraging cops to give me arguable tickets

xpost the papa potreros shooting was supposed to be retaliatory for the one at shotwell. apparently it's a norteno on norteno thing. the guys (inc. the 'guy' I was referring to above) were celebrating a GED in a limo and got rowdy with some other faction, shots were fired etc. the 'other faction' are the ones who I think were hit at the pizza place on sunday

xp ive recently seen dudes arguing outside guadalajara at 24&shot on friday nights too FWIW

69, Friday, 9 October 2009 21:06 (fourteen years ago) link

pretty ugly. hoping the heavy police presence & change in weather kinda kills this.

lou reed scott walker monks niagra (chinavision!), Friday, 9 October 2009 21:07 (fourteen years ago) link

oh I thought the Shotwell thing was a couple blocks further north, not on 24th...? (some guy nicknamed "monster"?)

Although this would explain the impromptu RIP shrine at Shotwell/24th (which was being watched over by a paddywagon most of last week)

Remove This Vile Tweet (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 13 October 2009 20:42 (fourteen years ago) link

i know! the time i feel luckiest not to have a car is on days like this. my commute was wet, but quick and with way less people than usual packing the train.

"why? so you can drive downtown in the rain during commuting hours? are you fucking insane?"

Ha ha ha! And still have to walk just as far in the rain unless he likes spending $30+/day, if your bldg has a garage.

Hearing SFers whinge about the rain never fails to make me chortle. We barely have ANY "real" weather so a couple of inches of rain makes us feel positively ALIVE!

Listening to my building creak in the wind is a little unsettling, though.
