Modern Warfare 2

I just checked and I played a little over 64 hours of CoD 4 multiplayer, so I think that's a pretty good value. Probably the only game I played more in the last few years (ever?) is Team Fortress 2.

Does the new game have an aracde mode that unlocks, like the last, and if it does, can it be played multiplayer, like in World at War?

I had 400 hrs logged on CoD4. 700 on SFIV. that's funemployment for you (except the 400 on cod were when I was a lolwyer o_O)

it's a great game, but that much online with that game would ruin it for anybody

(maybe even if the online play worked - just dealing that that many random internet assholes 1on1 would/probably has driven me crazy)

I'll probably level up a bit in MP first (at least unlock hardcore modes) and then start the SP; I expect my li'l ro will want to co-op at some point

I hope the single-player story has a bit more variety, rather than run to point A, shoot, run to point B do something else. Rainbow Six Vegas is the only realistic shooter that's gotten that right in my book.

Multiplayer can be fun, but I hate getting stuck with a bunch of 14 year olds who have nothing else to do but play. There should be a MP mode that requires age and employment verification.

Woah, lol @ sainsburys just now. They've been open for 90 mins and their stock hasn't arrived yet, so the store is FULL of panicky 13 yr olds and their harrassed mums. Staff looked near suicidal. I didn't hang around.

I was pretty far back in the queue at Sainsbury's In Crystal Palace, no problems though as loads of kids got refused the game for being under 18, oops. Thought I was going to get taxed on my way out by gangs of irate 14 yr olds.

Just played it for an hour but needed breakfast and coffee (definitely coffee) it's v v v intense, and twists right from the early bits. And Loud? very. very very very.

Picking mines up this afternoon. I'll be MP on PS3 from 9 tonight. Probably not touching SP until Sunday.

Didn't see him online on the game earlier when I was playing, but I've had to pop into town and now nneed to cook dinner, won't get back on til after the boy's gone to bed.

Did realise though that I'm about 2/3s of the way through already, unless act 3 is waaaaaaay bigger than the others.

Jordan - with the earlier ones, it was just a very solid WW2 story that really felt like they were placing you on the battlefield. For the time, there was just a lot of stuff going on in those games all at once that was really crazy (basically like playing the opening 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan). With the first Modern Warfare, what made it really stand out was 1. The change to modern times & weapons and 2. The multiplayer...

CoD 4 multiplayer was just so much faster & smoother & had such a great hypnotic feel that made it more intense than other (console) multiplayer games. It just felt about perfect. On top of the feel, it had a great leveling mechanic, where as you ranked up, you unlocked different weapons & abilities that kept the game feeling fresh even as the hours piled up. The maps were good, and besides the leveling up perks, there was also a slate of different game types that you could switch between - from straight up deathmatch to more objective team based stuff (nothing that hadn't been done before, but again, nothing that hadn't been done as smoothly before).

you know it specifically like says "WE RECOMMEND YOU PLAY SINGLE PLAYER FIRST" when u try to multi before completing the campaign?

i agree with what jeff said about multi, but i also want to add that the storytelling in the single-player was just really inventive and smart and surprising.

And there was me chuffed to bits with getting to 17 on first day.... Mind you by tea time I was seeing through time thanks to this lurgy. As witnessed by me going from loads of kills per match early in the day to piss poor shows all afternoon.

Jesus, underground I just can't get my head around. Loving hard hat though

yup,it's the time i care about. 3 or 4 hours to get back where i was. Wtf. Weirdly has kept my progress for some challenges but has ones ive already completed still to be done. Guh.

Fuck. Main menu hover over multi. 14 hrs it says. Go in and it says 6. Fml.
