Nope, bullshitting about which Eric Clapton album to get for someone's dad's brithday is very much my calling.

I did tell the guy that 'rolled me off' (it's not called sacking anymore I think) that I thought he was a cunt, that he could shove his reference where the minions had been licking and that I hope he gets what is coming to him very soon. (Hence my email address.)

Apparently I was not supposed to do this without asking anyone. Oh, and I'd already accidently chucked a 10 quid record voucher in the bin.

I was quite glad actually since they were cunts who paid peanuts, and a week later I got a much better job.

Argh. It appears I might be fired this afternoon from my terrible restaurant job.

Asides from being incompetent, I was apparently supposed to work yesterday. This will be my second no call/no show in less than a month. Not because I’m disinterested but because I’m too absent minded to check the schedule.

I think they might keep me since they have a difficult time filling my position. If they do fire me I’m screwed as I have about 20 dollars in my bank account. Yikes!

Well, I got fired. If anyone knows of a job that’s available in Boston ... let a brother know. Or I suppose I could start panhandling in Harvard Square.

my boss has a habit of sending me emails on friday or so once every three months that basically read "you me and the co-owner need to meet at noon on monday" and then offer no additional info when I ask; so every three months I walk around going "am i fired?" and they generally suggest I start work on something that totally confounds me, I tackle it and then repeat.
But every time I spend three days walking around going "am i fired?" and i always feel like it's gonna be this time. And this is this time.

From across the house, the gf hears me sighing and immediately asks what's wrong now. I should really not look at my email after I get home.

Honestly, i'm sure i'm NOT getting fired (i think), it's just that I get these weird mystery emails and then never get a response as to what they're about, just "we'll talk about it on monday" and then i get charlie brown stomachaches all weekend for no reason.

Damn it, Veg and Morbs. I'm sorry!

a few days before my 50th birthday i (and many others- this was not personal) was laid off from the company i had worked 14 years for.

i saw it coming (a year ago the UK based company was take over by some american investment fund - and we all know how thats going to fly !),
but still, having worked with the same crew for most of that time its a strange one when it actually happens.
i am now in a strange position where after 30 or so years doing software support/testing, i may never work again for a software company.
at 50, i am not sure i want to start all over again, learning a whole new software application and chancing my luck.
before this job i had worked for many other places, and hated virtually every single moment of my previous jobs due to the absolute shits i had to pretend to like.
instead i may just get a min wage at the pub to help pay the bills and live the small quiet life that i have always been heading towards.
but before i make that decision, i am going to kick back and enjoy the downtime.
i would suggest you do the same if at all possible Morbs.
3 weeks into my new life, and the house looks good, i have plans re the garden once spring arrives, and i really dont miss the sodding 2 hours a day commuting.
