xpost to what sam said. the air-conditioner is the dead giveaway that this isn't a dorm (i.e., we weren't allowed to have 'em where i went to college).

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:17 (fourteen years ago) link

I think it is not a house with parents. Possibly off-campus apartment, or recently-graduated.

But then why would they be in his ROOM? Why not playing beer pong or flip cup or some such beer game?

So many questions...I doubt I shall sleep this evening...

xpost -- fucking hooters airline doesn't fly to allentown from newark so i can't get to shows at jeff the pigeon.

CSI: ILX

According to the EXIF/xpacket data in the JPEG the image was taken on

2004:11:23 15:28:59

and

it wasn't actually taken... it was scanned by:

Noritsu SI-1080 Film Scanner Model DLS1640

It was cropped this January in adobe ps cs2.

Ha, I didn't realize that there was a fake Tuomas.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:18 (fourteen years ago) link

It was taken at 3.30 in the afternoon? That's interesting...

Never stopped a lot of people! I have no idea how some didn't get caught....

but you're more than likely right. Also the dresser and bed don't look like dorm issue.

A BOLD QUAHOG (ex machina), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:19 (fourteen years ago) link

... oh right, it was scanned at 3.30

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:20 (fourteen years ago) link

Why should I be jerking your chains? I just find the idea of a restaurant called "Hooters" kinda weird (especially if it's really a restaurant and not a strip joint), since no one could pull it off here.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:20 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm guessing it's guy at parent's house, guy's underage sister or cousin, and orange girl on the end is really "hawt" friend that he begged relative to bring over to "chill, you know, drink some beers" at some point.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:20 (fourteen years ago) link

Right, so who took the photo then? Any guesses?

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:21 (fourteen years ago) link

Because there's obviously 4 people in the room (and maybe more)

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:22 (fourteen years ago) link

THERE'S ONE UNDER THE BED!!

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:22 (fourteen years ago) link

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:24 (fourteen years ago) link

The DVD cases on right are from Blockbuster right?

A BOLD QUAHOG (ex machina), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:25 (fourteen years ago) link

You can indeed. I broke it down enough earlier that I left that one to be discovered, but I did pick up on the side-boob earlier.

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:25 (fourteen years ago) link

Tuomas I am almost 100% certain you've asked questions about Hooters before.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:25 (fourteen years ago) link

It looks like Grand Theft Auto, Madden (of some unidentified year) and at least Spiderman the DVD. None bear the rental spine stickers, so I'm guessing owned, not rented.

If we could date the Madden, we might have a chance here, people!

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:26 (fourteen years ago) link

That's clearly 2004.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:27 (fourteen years ago) link

maybe hooters-dude met yer sister @ hooters, ally!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:27 (fourteen years ago) link

Possibly off-campus apartment, or recently-graduated.

But then why would they be in his ROOM?

He's probably the first guy who ever said "Would you like to come up to see some of my etchings?" and meant it!

I second the off-campus living. Mom would never allow this.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:28 (fourteen years ago) link

It actually looks like GTA: San Andreas, which would put this photo within the last two years!

Anyone else have any ideas on the DVD/game stack on the right? The Miller Lite cans look like the ones I had last weekend, so they're of no help.

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:28 (fourteen years ago) link

Also...look at purses. Any help there? Current models of purses, anyone?

I am WAY too into this. I loved these kind of games in elementary school.

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:29 (fourteen years ago) link

check THIS shit out --> hooters dude, 1991 version

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:30 (fourteen years ago) link

I think this is most definitely a dorm room, and whoever suggested the first-week awkward meeting random people scenario is probably right. My dorm in Tennessee had air-conditioners just like that, and it dressers like that, and probably nicer were not uncommon, especially in places like language houses, or even nicer dorms. The person who took the picture is probably the dude's room-mate, and they're all there to smoke a bowl.

Jena (JenaP), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:30 (fourteen years ago) link

I know what you mean, BLMA.

Here's what I'm currently pondering: that thing in between the two top drawers of his dresser -- is that a PINK BOW?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:31 (fourteen years ago) link

Well, those cropped corduroy jackets were popular for the last two years, so I would say it puts it in that timeframe. The purse in front looks like a knock-off Coach. Not even good enough to have fake logos on it.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:32 (fourteen years ago) link

it's vice city. dorm still seems very possible, room seems a bit spacy though. spreadlegs either lives in the same dorm, apartment complext (slight chance street), goes to same local convenience store to buy papers, miller lite.

j blount (papa la bas), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:33 (fourteen years ago) link

i dunno why people are assuming that dude even WENT to college.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:35 (fourteen years ago) link

No earlier than 11/2004 guys. DIDN'T YOU SEE MY EXIF INFOZ?

Also, the timestamp is in GMT-500 which in november is Eastern Standard Time.

A BOLD QUAHOG (ex machina), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:35 (fourteen years ago) link

Vice city? Sure? I am at work or would check my GTA boxes. That opens it up to like four years ago. Crap.

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:35 (fourteen years ago) link

How about the stack of books on the dresser. They look like math and science books.

Jena (JenaP), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:36 (fourteen years ago) link

I am pretty sure it isn't a dorm:

1) A/C
2) Beds in dorms not usually metal frame type like that
3) Styling on dresser
4) Carpeting
5) VENETIAN BLINDS. Dorms usually have pull blinds.

A BOLD QUAHOG (ex machina), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:36 (fourteen years ago) link

And yeah...that stack of books looks mighty high school-ish. Hm. The mysteries multiply.

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:36 (fourteen years ago) link

The text books/ notebooks on the dresser surely suggest a college student?

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:37 (fourteen years ago) link

Jena, I am in photoshop seeing if I can extract any info from the books...

A BOLD QUAHOG (ex machina), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:37 (fourteen years ago) link

its vice city.

man..this pic, i love Roxy!

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:37 (fourteen years ago) link

What's the grey curved thing on his dresser in the far right of the picture?

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:38 (fourteen years ago) link

They probably all showed up at the same party and the girls sat down and these dudes showed up to play Nintendo. Picture snapped, girls like "Uhhh ok then" and left. End of story.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:38 (fourteen years ago) link

That's like the best couple in the world, Eisbär.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:38 (fourteen years ago) link

And what's that yellow thing to the guy's right?

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:40 (fourteen years ago) link

Ally, I don't like you're tone. Far to decisive. You're clearly into "Get this shit done" wedding planning mode.

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:40 (fourteen years ago) link

The nintendo is very organised, I like that.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:40 (fourteen years ago) link

Do the green/white tartan, the yellow (cap?) and green (frisbee? weights?) mean something? Notre Dame fan?

(oh. xxxpost)

StanM (StanM), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 18:42 (fourteen years ago) link

Also, ALLY...no coats on bed. I say nay to your party idea. I think pre-party, or the girls showed up to smoke a bowl. And drink some beers.
