i dunno about any of their other songs but cappacino by the knux is dope! Its the only throw back joint I've been really feeling. That Pacific Div Fat Boys joint is way boring and sounds just like every Cool Kids song except the dudes are passably better rappers than the Cool Kids. Noz's post I thought was on point for a sec but I dont really think rap needs to be tied to a 'real place' to be good or whatever, thats just not realistic. But yeah so far this post-myspace generic 'throwback' rap has been way underwhelming

'cappuccino' sounds great tho, the one guy kind of sounds like dude from camp lo and the hook sounds totally de la

Hey, is there a thread where I can post a link to a site that lets you create your own ringtones? I thought this one was going to be about actual ringtones! I think people on this board would really get great use out of it. Thanks, I'm new here (in case you couldn't tell).

I can see why one might think it sounds similar to Cool Kids, but I think there's certainly room for "similar to, but much better than". Other than the Fat Boys reference, and maybe their image, which I could give a fuck about, I'm not sure what's supposed to be retro about this, tho. If anything, the aesthetic strikes me as hyphy reconciling with medium rap. None of the other songs I've heard by them sound like that, anyway.

I will give you that the Knux song is better, tho. (Actually, their image is way more obnoxious to me than Pac Div's.)

so when Lil Jon's next album actually finally comes out, is he gonna change the name to Crunk Disco or something??? Crunk rock seems like two or three hip hop trends ago doesn't it?

this is getting weird and awesome though

more daft punk samples?! the one I've liked best of those was on janet's album.

"If a ten-year-old can make 'Love in This Club' and save Usher's career and make black women want to f*ck him again, after they was done with him for getting married, then sh*t he's a genius just like me," Polow said. "I also wrote the hook - that's not a preset."

deej, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 05:03 (sixteen years ago) link

I thought homie had put that shit on YouTube and was all amped to see it but it's just a promo vid for a link to broke-ass zshare wtf

"Keep watchin, I'ma have a new video up talkin baout...what's goin on...out there, you know what it is..."

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 05:39 (sixteen years ago) link

i think it cements polows brilliance that he turned two garage band presets into the #1 song in the country

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 8 April 2008 07:06 (sixteen years ago) link

any of you dudes listen to the guilty simpson album?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 8 April 2008 07:07 (sixteen years ago) link

xp it cements his hackery! still think its a lame song

deej, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 15:51 (sixteen years ago) link

two xp's:

the guilty simpson album is really awesome, totaly didn't know what to expect from him but I think I chose the one stones throw/indie rap dude that actually talks about guns and shit

also: I never knew any of this stuff about garage band presets and Polow and "Love in this Club"

Preview of the Matrix 12, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 16:09 (sixteen years ago) link

what's the deal with this dude?

Jordan, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 16:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Guilty Simpson is prolly the second best hip-hop album of 08 so far after Webbie.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 16:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Kind of lo-fi grindhouse Madlib/Oh No beats with slow measured G Rap flow.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 16:19 (sixteen years ago) link

the only guy who doesn't bring it on that Guilty Simpson record is the guy whose name is on the cover. weird because he has contributed some solid verses to other people's material. he obviously needs the constraint of working inside someone else's ideas 'cos he hasn't got any of his own. this is probably the biggest disappointment of the year for me so far.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 16:26 (sixteen years ago) link

new AZ record is fantastic
