i dunno about any of their other songs but cappacino by the knux is dope! Its the only throw back joint I've been really feeling. That Pacific Div Fat Boys joint is way boring and sounds just like every Cool Kids song except the dudes are passably better rappers than the Cool Kids. I can see why one might think it sounds similar to Cool Kids, but I think there's certainly room for "similar to, but much better than". Other than the Fat Boys reference, and maybe their image, which I could give a fuck about, I'm not sure what's supposed to be retro about this, tho. If anything, the aesthetic strikes me as hyphy reconciling with medium rap. None of the other songs I've heard by them sound like that, anyway.

I will give you that the Knux song is better, tho. (Actually, their image is way more obnoxious to me than Pac Div's.)

Guilty Simpson is prolly the second best hip-hop album of 08 so far after Webbie.

Kind of lo-fi grindhouse Madlib/Oh No beats with slow measured G Rap flow.

the only guy who doesn't bring it on that Guilty Simpson record is the guy whose name is on the cover. weird because he has contributed some solid verses to other people's material. he obviously needs the constraint of working inside someone else's ideas 'cos he hasn't got any of his own. this is probably the biggest disappointment of the year for me so far.
