yeah he always seemed like a quietly spiritual dude to me-- even "live in the sky" was kind of like that even if not overtly. i guess i respect him for that. it doesn't make me disappointed or anything though

I thought Wendy Williams of all people would have known why I chose to promote myself on VH1!!!!…. Didn’t she have a show on VH1 that flopped??? But no….That dumb blonde drag queen of crack is just as slow as the rest of the recovering addicts that listen to her show!!!. Why am I on VH1 ??????? Promotion people….. CAMERA TIME, not HAMMER TIME!!!!! And guess what?????? It didn’t cost me a dime!!! ThugMisses is getting all this promotion for free!!!!! Who wouldn’t want to be on prime time TV all over the world???? Prime time people!!! Nine commercials airing all day, prime time slots right after Flavor of Love, and A full hour of free promotion and we all know how VH1 loves to show re-runs….…. What a queen move!!!!!! Please understand people I’m the undisputed Queen of The South….. Self made, self promoted, independent hit maker and trust me….. I’m gonna have this recovering addicts job soon because people are more interested in seeing me than Wendy …… Come on … my blogs on myspace are juicer than her radio show…. All the fans will be tuning in on April 14, to see who?????? ME!!!!!!!!! on VH1’s Miss Rap Supreme.
So all my fans…….. Let’s say it together….. Thank you Wendy “crackhead” Williams for all the free promotion!!!!!!!!!!!! Nasti Muzik 08!!! Once a crack-head is always a crack-head!!!!!! Bow down BITCH!!!!!

In a potentially controversial chat with Blender mag, Alicia Keys, 27, says, "Gangsta rap was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. Gangsta rap didn't exist."
Ms. Keys, sporting a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck, says she has been reading books by some of the members of the Black Panthers.
She says the feud between East Coast and West Coast rappers, which led to the murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., was fueled "by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing."

Ms. Keys says she has been reading books by some of the members of the Black Panthers.
come on now
huey wouldn't buy into this shit
who's she reading?
― BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 08:02 (sixteen years ago) link
Lemme qualify obv: who the fuck am I to put words in the mouth of Huey P etc, bros probably would rightly have pointed out the hand of white capital in shepherding the crossover success of violent music, and no question east/west was a lotta media bullshit, but "gangsta rap didn't exist?"
Maybe it's just taken out of context and she's making the point that w/o Jerry Heller et al there would be no popular music genre called "Gangsta Rap," but even that's specious obviously. No Medicis = no Sistine, sure, but I'll bet homie still paints a mural somewhere and obv PSK is still out there and Ice T is still doing his thing etc.
Sorry yall I catch feelings when folks talk about the Panthers
