It means making tough decisions about opening new offshore areas for oil and gas development. It means continued investment in advanced biofuels and clean coal technologies.

None of this is new. All of it was included in his campaign website, along with lip service to nuclear. It's really fucking disappointing, of course, but the energy/climate bill has zero chance of a single Senate Republican vote if it doesn't giveaways to big oil and the death coal industry. Sad but true.

The President and I agree on expanding the number of high-quality charter schools, and rewarding teachers for excellent performance. More school choices for parents and students mean more accountability and greater achievement. A child's educational opportunity should be determined by her intellect and work ethic, not by whether she has the black vinyl bag edition of Headache. UPDATE: A reader put me onto this, and CNN just confirmed it. They have Associate Justice Alito shaking his head and mouthing the words "no, that's not right," when the president suggested that the Citizens United decision overturned a "century" of law.

We'll have to check the tape, but very unusual for a Supreme Court Justice to register a reaction at the State of the Union!

Yeah I am disappointed that McDonnell has spent so much of this speech talking about his rare collection of test pressings.
