So this basically sounds like an Edan album, and it's about 1/3 passable and 2/3 "are you serious." Mostly Blueprint & Black Album stuff, a couple American Gangster verses & random remix verses. Of the 20 tracks like 4 are reg rockable.
There should be a rule against anyone ever using Public Service Announcement as an intro ever again. There's an "In My Place" bit with Jay's verse from the Sittin Sideways remix that's real Rick Rubin shit. "Ignorant Shit"/"The Scientist" is kinda slick. Not worth your time otherwise, but you didn't need me to tell you that.

i've sunk to a few lows and done a lot of things i'm not proud of but listening to a Jay-Z and Coldplay mixtape is just not something I'm gonna ever do
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Thursday, 30 October 2008 15:22 (fifteen years ago) link
nor will I claim that this new beyonce song is good....it's fucking AWFUL stop talking about it!!! worst song ever.

that's what HOOS used to tell himself...now he just rationalizes, that he can quit anytime that he wants...
xpost - yeah "Single Ladies" is pretty bad.
― some dude, Thursday, 30 October 2008 15:26 (fifteen years ago) link
thank you! sorry nothing to do with rap. but.....come ooooonnnnnnnn.
i'm usually not this guy but it's gotten pretty bad here in the second half of the year. if i see one more B.o.B. or CHarles Hamilton freestyle or fucking joe budden inter-video I'm just gonna stop paying attention all together. this is ridiculous.

z-ro and devin the dude and prodigy and some of the new project pat/OJ/gucci tracks that have made it on blvd st and that's about it. fuck fukkkk i need some new rap

new scarface tracks are good
man the devin album was shitty - way worse than the last one, which i didnt even like that much in the first place
― joe 40oz (deej), Thursday, 30 October 2008 15:39 (fifteen years ago) link
yeah, looking forward to Face. am I crazy for anticipating Jadakiss more than any other album of the next couple months?
seriously. people freaking out about Joe Budden in 2008, what the fuck. and all the blog rappers on the cover of the new XXL.
― some dude, Thursday, 30 October 2008 15:49 (fifteen years ago) link
all the blog rappers on the cover of the new XXL
funniest/stupidest thing I've ever seen. these dudes are the new model. get put on blogs, release a mixtape or two. have a marketable face/style. DON'T come out with an album. probably more profitable than the last one, I'm sure Wale has made a good amount of money in the past year.
the devin album is just so easy to listen to. it's not that great but i mean it's something
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Thursday, 30 October 2008 15:57 (fifteen years ago) link
not a mixtape or two, a new mixtape every 6 days. i'm kinda surprised by just how many of these guys already have major label deals, though. not that that means they'll actually release an album.
― some dude, Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:01 (fifteen years ago) link
Thing is, who has time to listen to all that shit?
― Whiney G. Torture Garden (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:11 (fifteen years ago) link
which ones have major label deals?
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:12 (fifteen years ago) link
Like it's cute how the fader gets excited about every time B.O.B. updates his myspace or whatever, but really I never know what songs to check out anymore.
― Whiney G. Torture Garden (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:13 (fifteen years ago) link
I feel like a crotchety old man about it, "Can't you just release an ALBUM so I can listen to it?"
― Whiney G. Torture Garden (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:14 (fifteen years ago) link
But, you know to anyone who's trying to keep up with El Guincho, Nachtmystium, Torche, Sebastien Grangier, Quiet Village, Devin The Dude and Ne-Yo all at the same time, these constant blog streams are just white noise that you start tuning out.
― Whiney G. Torture Garden (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:16 (fifteen years ago) link
for what it's worth the ONLY person who cares about joe budden in 2008 is the dude who runs nah right
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:18 (fifteen years ago) link
"DON'T come out with an album"
yep - its better to have people imagine what your album will be like rather than actually hear it.
― titchyschneiderMk2, Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:19 (fifteen years ago) link
my roommate has been telling me to check out the charles hamilton mixtape with the cover that looks like illmatic but i haven't gotten around to it. dude sounds alright i guess
btw BoB has an EP on itunes most of which is good also he only has one prominent mixtape which i linked to in the thread i started about him
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:20 (fifteen years ago) link
if you are watching any video posted on nah right or its cousin blogs you are a sucker and should be looking inward with disappointment not outward~
on the good side the album by The Knux sounds really cool but i don't even know when it comes out
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:21 (fifteen years ago) link
id be willing to check the knux albumit might be the first rap record that makes me feel old
― joe 40oz (deej), Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:23 (fifteen years ago) link
I mean, I guess making albums costs money and freestyling over "A Milli" and having bloggerstans go OMG EVENT!!! is free.
― Whiney G. Torture Garden (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:23 (fifteen years ago) link
i like knux ok
im surprised rock mags like spin aren't jumping at the chance to anoint the knux as the next outkast

a funny poll would be which rapper in 2008 have you not heard anything buy but are the most sick of?
i'd go with "mickey factz"

Charles Hamilton's signed to Interscope, Wale's signed to Interscope, Asher Roth's signed to SRC/Universal, plus obv. the more mainstream guys on that cover (Ace Hood, B.O.B., Cory Gunz) have deals too.

btw ace hood's album is going to drop in 2 weeks and do V.I.C numbers
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:37 (fifteen years ago) link
I still think that dude is kind of good or at least well above most of the other Rappers from Florida whose first, biggest and/or only hit featured T-Pain but yeah, that album can't really be worth hearing, can it.
― some dude, Thursday, 30 October 2008 16:44 (fifteen years ago) link
im holding out hope that "cash flow" would rise on the hot 100 so ace could get something close to the beats/guests on the first ross album since he's pretty entrenched in the khaled camp cuz i think that would turn out to be a pretty listenable album
