lots of things.
all of the humor on the show i saw was predicated on the whole "black people/white people" thing. i know chappelle is working with an unusual degree of self-consciousness when he does these kind of jokes, but that doesn't make them any deeper or funnier, in fact it makes them infinitely worse. the show seems to carry little conviction.

Chappelle once again appeared on Inside the Actor's Studio and in celebration of the shows 200th episode, he humorously interviewed the show's usual host, James Lipton. The episode aired on November 10, 2008 and Chappelle is scheduled to appear again on Inside the Actor's Studio for April 26th 2009.[24]
....
Chappelle has stated that he is an avid World of Warcraft player.[29]

Dave Chappelle loves World of Warcraft
* By Tor Thorsen, GameSpot * Posted Jun 29, 2005 8:38 am PT
After indefinitely abandoning work on his hit Chappelle's Show, comedian Dave Chappelle absconded to South Africa to escape the fallout. Since returning to the US, he has made several unannounced appearances at Los Angeles comedy clubs, and this week played two little-publicized shows at the Punchline in San Francisco.
At his San Francisco gigs, Chappelle revealed he has also been getting away to a place farther off than Johannesburg--Azeroth, no less. Attendees to Chappelle's Tuesday night show said the comedian voiced his love of a certain popular MMORPG from Blizzard Entertainment.
"You know what I've been playing a lot of?" the comedian reportedly asked the crowd. "World of Warcraft!" When a few cheers broke out, he reportedly responded, "I knew I had some geek brothers and sisters up in here!" Chappelle also was said to have expressed his amusement seeing WoW characters with names referring to his most famous sketches, including a rogue with a name inspired by the famous "I'm Rick James, B****" sketch.
Chappelle is a long-standing and vocal fan of games. Most famously, he did a Grand Theft Auto parody on his highly rated (and now in limbo) sketch series, the second season of which has shattered sales records on DVD. He also reportedly turned down a major role in GTA: San Andreas, although his Chappelle's Show costar Charlie Murphy voiced a San Fierro pimp in the game.

i miss this dude, but i'm glad he ditched the show before it got lame. seemed pretty clear to me he was running out of ideas toward the end of S2 and i felt S3 was pretty weak.

I have had bits from KMS going through my head all week. My favorites are the weed selling baby, his predisposition to liking chicken and the thing about Oscar the grouch. Oh forget it - I love it all.
I actually saw him once in a v small club in NYC in the late 90s where I was one of about 20 people in the audience. He was so fucked he could hardly stand up but somehow still managed to be hilarious.
Will watch tonight and probably return to quote more.

ME TOO.
All of it is funny even where he brings it back during the thong contest bit.
"Is that . . . is that a baby?" "I snuck in the club!" etc.

Oh I need to listen to this again. It's been far too long.

i don't know why, and maybe it's kind of homophobic of me, but the first time i saw it, his imitation of george w. as a fiend destroyed me. "c'mon baby, sign the treaty. i'll suck your dick!"

hahaha yes.
Even though this is all pretty old and I've seen it many many times, it's still just as funny to me now.

"I don't want all them vitamins I want drink. Sugar. Water. Purple."
OK also, the Chip character or his "white" voice in general. Awesome.

the masturbating homeless guy is a soft spot in the set imo but everything else is so beyond classic

the riff about him standing on the windowsill masturbating is so awesome
grape drink bit is maybe my favorite bit of stand up comedy ever tbh

for people my age chappelle is the defining comedic force of our lifetimes so far easy
mostly everyone i know has seen 'killin them softly' and 'for what it's worth' 10+ times and the chappelle show sketches are just engrained in our brains

I don't know - I think think the masturbating homeless guy has grown on me over time. hmmm.
For me it's a toss up between the weed baby and grape drink in terms of fav bits of stand up, I think.

"I spoke at my old high school and I told them kids straight up, if you guys are serious about making it out of this ghetto, you gotta focus, you gotta stop blaming white people for your problems, and you've...you've got to learn...how to...rap or play basketball or something n***a, you're trapped! YOU ARE TRAPPED! Either do that or sell crack, that's your only options! That's the only way I've ever seen it work."
