idgi, mon (k3vin k.), Sunday, 28 February 2010 05:43 (fourteen years ago) link

The most monotonous "song" ever. These songs sound like cut rate CCM.

is that the dashboard confessional guy?

<3 the car horn one. "Beep beep I'm on my way to your house Jesus".

you gone float up with it (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Sunday, 28 February 2010 17:57 (fourteen years ago) link

Smash Mouth sketch was pretty funny. Reminded me of that "Go For Your Dreams" sketch where a dozen baseball players come out of the kid's closet.

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 28 February 2010 18:06 (fourteen years ago) link

otm exactly what I was thinking from the set-up.

you gone float up with it (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Sunday, 28 February 2010 18:07 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah, as mentioned (above I think?) that baseball player skit is one of m favorites. I thought this episode was pretty bad though, especially Weekend Update, which can usually be good for some solid crappy topical humor/political jokes, I felt they were extra weak.

zvooka socka lame (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 1 March 2010 14:05 (fourteen years ago) link

or i just saw them do it on hulu, afaik

zvooka socka lame (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 1 March 2010 14:06 (fourteen years ago) link

does nipsey hustle just have a funny name that's good to riff on or is he actually reaching people in some capacity, because last time i checked he was famous as like saigon

zvooka socka lame (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 1 March 2010 14:07 (fourteen years ago) link

that car horn sketch had me in fucking tears, oh my god

Jack the Dude-Kicker (HI DERE), Monday, 1 March 2010 14:25 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah the exact size of NH's fame right now is "who is this clown with the worst name in the history of rap who's on We Are The World this early in his career?" which is why I'm amazed he agreed to it regardless of any misguided desire to 'be a part of history' or w/e

waka yoga flame (some dude), Monday, 1 March 2010 14:34 (fourteen years ago) link

oh i didn't know Nipsey was actually on WATW. I still haven't watched it!

zvooka socka lame (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 1 March 2010 14:35 (fourteen years ago) link

Wow, I assumed they made up Nipsey Hustle.

Chris L, Monday, 1 March 2010 14:44 (fourteen years ago) link

call all destroyer, Monday, 1 March 2010 14:45 (fourteen years ago) link

someone tell me what happens in the smash mouth sketch, hulu cut it out

pad see u (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 5 March 2010 00:51 (fourteen years ago) link

Basically they keep popping out and eventually the mom tells the daughter all of the good memories she should have associated with the song (like one of her teachers using it for a class video, etc) and Smash Mouth busts through the wall and they all dance. The set-up was way, way, way better than the punchline.

you gone float up with it (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 5 March 2010 04:14 (fourteen years ago) link

the smashmouth sketch got cut out when i watched it OnDemand too -- i guess they used the actual songs and didn't wanna pay more clearance fees for anything besides the broadcast?

some dude, Friday, 5 March 2010 06:53 (fourteen years ago) link

their political opens are fucking atrocious

jizzchin (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:35 (fourteen years ago) link

he's just doing old jokes for his monologue?!

mizzell, Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:41 (fourteen years ago) link

people don't find this guy funny do they

iatee, Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:43 (fourteen years ago) link

mizzell, Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:44 (fourteen years ago) link

iiiijjjj, Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:44 (fourteen years ago) link

i thought that was really funny -- i've never really seen him in that context tho so i wouldn't know how much of the jokes were old

jizzchin (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:45 (fourteen years ago) link

I've seen his stand up/piano stuff before, but not for a few years. These jokes were all new to me.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:46 (fourteen years ago) link

deadpan jokes + piano is sooo played

iatee, Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:50 (fourteen years ago) link

the concept not the piano

iatee, Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:50 (fourteen years ago) link

Who else is doing it right now (or anytime in the last 10 years)?

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:51 (fourteen years ago) link

random lame comics I see on comedy central?

iatee, Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:52 (fourteen years ago) link

ironic musical comedy is probably the worst brand of comedy imaginable, but i thought it worked in the snl context

jizzchin (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:53 (fourteen years ago) link

jude law + pearl jam = ... 2002 at best

jizzchin (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:55 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm just saying Galifianakis has been doing this at least since his VH1 show (and in all likelihood before that), so that means it's been a staple of his act for 9 years (or more).

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 7 March 2010 04:59 (fourteen years ago) link

these first two skits have been aggressively bad

jizzchin (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 7 March 2010 05:01 (fourteen years ago) link

it is entirely possible that he was among the lame comedy central comics doing this in my memory

iatee, Sunday, 7 March 2010 05:02 (fourteen years ago) link

the bidet one almost seemed like this was a show making fun of lame tv skits

iatee, Sunday, 7 March 2010 05:03 (fourteen years ago) link

xposts

More than 9 years, but he's pretty much dropped it entirely in the last 3 or so years, so I'm kind of surprised he did it tonight.

Jouster, Sunday, 7 March 2010 05:04 (fourteen years ago) link

The inherent comedy value of two men kissing: more or less than the inherent comedy value of white people rapping?
