Has anyone else here been to screenings? I am curious to know if the BJ thing was just a Melb thing or not - it was hella gross (and once you thought it you couldnt un-think it!)

ABBAcab (Trayce), Thursday, 4 March 2010 00:12 (fourteen years ago) link

I didn't notice it at the SF screening.

I've been to 3 or 4 of the portland screenings. I don't think that joke is over here, but I'm usually too drunk to notice.

after seeing Tommy Wiseau and his fat, flabby ass banging away at some barely-legal skank not once, but TWICE, in this film w/ some generic R. Kelly-clone slow jamz blaring in the background -- i knew that this film crossed SOME sort of line that should never be crossed.

Eisbaer, I can't believe you called Mladen Milicevic and Kitra Williams's immortal classic "You're My Rose" a generic R, Kelly clone. Shame on you.

YOU ARE MY ROSE
YOU ARE MY ROSE

Well it was once technically seeing as they blatantly just re-used the footage from the first time around, lol.

Oh god the sight of his butt scoured my brain forever.

and yes, mike nelson and the rifftrax crew had some fun at the expense of the room:

Does anyone else feel like the underwear story guy is a huge ham and maybe the only actor who realized how awful the whole production was? Every scene I see him in, he seems like he's super hamming it up.

Mordy, Saturday, 20 March 2010 21:12 (fourteen years ago) link

His face during the blowjob is incredible.

Might go to the Red Vic midnight showing next weekend, I haven't seen it except for the clips above. Bringing some friends but worried they might hate me after...

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 20 March 2010 22:33 (fourteen years ago) link

And do other screenings shout out implications at the end that Mark and Denny are giving Johnny's dead body a blowjob!?. Because they did here. Eww.

Yeah, this happened...
It was lots of fun! Love the underwear guy so much. And the scene with Tommy setting up the tape. And the line "your point of view is so different from mine!".

Not the real Village People, Monday, 29 March 2010 00:07 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh I forgot about the tape thing, that was hilarous.

The film was *so consistently bad and incoherent* that I couldn't help wondering if it was deliberate, though people who worked on the film insist he really is just crap, so...

ABBAcab (Trayce), Monday, 29 March 2010 00:13 (fourteen years ago) link

I came out completely baffled, like surely it takes quite a lot of effort and money to actually make a film yet to not give a flying fuck what anyone says in it or does or what it looks like...??

Not the real Village People, Monday, 29 March 2010 00:17 (fourteen years ago) link

I love this movie so much.

Mordy, Monday, 29 March 2010 00:18 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh it's obviously real. There's way too much hurt shit in the flick and the guy himself is that cracked in real life to fake it.

requiem for crunk (kingfish), Monday, 29 March 2010 00:52 (fourteen years ago) link

And the line "your point of view is so different from mine!".

I was the only person at my showing who said this along with the movie.

no turkey unless it's a club sandwich (polyphonic), Monday, 29 March 2010 01:02 (fourteen years ago) link

You know what they say. Love is blind.

Mordy, Monday, 29 March 2010 01:51 (fourteen years ago) link

This movie is amazing at creating a very surreal atmosphere by trying to mimic everyday experiences (playing football, talking with your parents, having lots and lots of unfortunate sex) and failing in a completely unexpected way in every instance. I love the little details like the magical appearing vase, things that demonstrate a vision driven enough to continue on in the face of continuity issues. And the characters are all hilarious and tragic at once. A classic.

I want to see him and Christopher Walken in a buddy cop film. It would revive the genre.

i think the only actor who was aware of how awful and absurd the whole thing was was the "i feel like i'm sitting on an atomic bomb waiting for it to go off" guy.

my favorite scene

Trollmatic Reflexions (ojo), Friday, 2 April 2010 04:39 (fourteen years ago) link

My fave part of that scene:
"I had a 2,000 dollar check I couldn't cash."
"Why not?"
"Because it was an out of state bank."

Ignoring the fact that not being able to cash an out of state bank check is preposterous -- it sounds like Tommy was writing the script, got to that part and thought -- hmmm, this won't be believable that he had a check he couldn't cash. I'll need to explain it. This is a good explanation!

Mordy, Friday, 2 April 2010 04:55 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah I remember laughing hard at that!

My beloved DDR game shouts out random phrases including "Youaahhh tearing it up" but each and every time I think it's gonna be "Youahhh tearing... me apart lisaaa!"

never would've made it through this watching on my own, but with a couple of friends it worked very well

Saw it for the 4th time last night.

Mordy, Sunday, 11 April 2010 06:14 (fourteen years ago) link

i admit, i was singing "everywhere you look!" during all the Frisco footage, so it's funny that that's one of the live screening habits, but i don't know if i could bring myself to watch the movie a second time

Nhex, Sunday, 11 April 2010 06:15 (fourteen years ago) link

I watch it stoned every time -- which is why I think I continue to enjoy it.

Mordy, Sunday, 11 April 2010 06:19 (fourteen years ago) link

it's pretty enjoyable with or without drugs or alcohol, but it really benefits from having friends with you when you watch
