sometimes I think people like Perpetua just come up with contrarian opinions so they stand out more...

Sherman Helmsley Teabag (Cattle Grind), Friday, 7 May 2010 06:44 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah, I mean if this isn't the kind of thing you're looking for this show to give you, then what the hell are you even watching it for?

Johnny Fever, Friday, 7 May 2010 06:47 (fourteen years ago) link

Another reason to think he is a chucklehead.

ô_o (Nicole), Friday, 7 May 2010 10:52 (fourteen years ago) link

always hated him. so yeah.

i can see someone liking the first half of the season more and being put-off by some of the broader, more high concept stuff they've been doing in the last few episodes, even if i personally love how ambitious and crazy the show's getting.

this was above & beyond the greatest. i <3 this show.

tart w/ a heart (a hoy hoy), Friday, 7 May 2010 13:10 (fourteen years ago) link

i feel like the end of the billiards class episode was really where they threw down the gauntlet and showed how far they were willing to go, and the last 2 episodes are them going full bore in that direction. it's kind of exciting, since most sitcoms end up doing something zany and conceptual eventually, but by the time they do it's like season 5 and it's easy to accuse them of jumping the shark or running out of ideas. for Community to do this stuff this early on i think sets more of an 'anything goes' tone for the future.

iiiinfinite jjjjest (some dude), Friday, 7 May 2010 13:10 (fourteen years ago) link

that all sounds quite correct

Nhex, Friday, 7 May 2010 13:51 (fourteen years ago) link

Wonder if that Brie story "inspired" Annie's loss of virginity tale from the episode about the safe sex fair.

Just saw that the same writer, Emily Cutler, is responsible for both Modern Warfare AND the chicken fingers episodes. Let's get this woman an Emmy at her earliest convenience, thanks.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 7 May 2010 19:08 (fourteen years ago) link

Bet yall noticed it but funny which member of their group got shot first

CaptainLorax, Friday, 7 May 2010 19:28 (fourteen years ago) link

Yes, I DID notice. No way that was just random.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 7 May 2010 19:29 (fourteen years ago) link

ha, never thought it through like that!

tart w/ a heart (a hoy hoy), Friday, 7 May 2010 19:30 (fourteen years ago) link

of all the references though...the degree by which they nailed the 28 Days Later atmosphere was pretty amazing.

dan selzer, Friday, 7 May 2010 19:35 (fourteen years ago) link

I think the most amazing thing for me was how casually the paintball contest was mentioned (and disregarded) and then when it became a full blown thing.. from the first Abed appearance to the rendezvous point with Troy. Then I was continually amazed that the action film spiel was continually pulled off flawlessly - things like the scene where they are sitting around the fire in the cafeteria really got to me. I'm gonna stop praising this episode before I curse it :)

CaptainLorax, Friday, 7 May 2010 19:56 (fourteen years ago) link

so is this show always delightful or only when there is cartoon violence?

Astronaut Mike Dexter (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 7 May 2010 20:01 (fourteen years ago) link

Can I saw that Britta is one of the most attractive women on television right now?

Sherman Helmsley Teabag (Cattle Grind), Friday, 7 May 2010 22:51 (fourteen years ago) link

I think Agent Olivia Dunham from 'Fringe' has her beat, but Britta's pretty awesome.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 7 May 2010 23:41 (fourteen years ago) link

Annie > Britta, sorry dudes.

Annie's right up there too. I could go either way with them on any day of the week, honestly.

Sherman Helmsley Teabag (Cattle Grind), Friday, 7 May 2010 23:49 (fourteen years ago) link

Perhaps I could have phrased that better.

Sherman Helmsley Teabag (Cattle Grind), Friday, 7 May 2010 23:49 (fourteen years ago) link

The spy-chick on Chuck is up there in the top 3 probably. I like the redhead on The Mentalist also. Olivia otm.

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 8 May 2010 00:05 (fourteen years ago) link

love that this is their second dig at Glee

Gee, Officer (Gukbe), Saturday, 8 May 2010 00:15 (fourteen years ago) link

might have to watch this again

I like the redhead on The Mentalist also.

Over Robin Tunney? No way.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 8 May 2010 00:45 (fourteen years ago) link

other ref: battle royale!

Love the John mclane wifebeater

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 8 May 2010 02:04 (fourteen years ago) link

what was the battle royale ref? i musta missed it. there was a bunch going on there.

s.clover, Saturday, 8 May 2010 05:37 (fourteen years ago) link

The whole thing seemed kinda Battle Royale'ish. Esp the part where they send in the ringer to kill everyone.

Mordy, Saturday, 8 May 2010 06:08 (fourteen years ago) link

if this episode doesn't win some kind of award, there's no point in having awards.

if he wants to cry to the night sky that's what he'll fucking do (reddening), Saturday, 8 May 2010 09:04 (fourteen years ago) link

that episode must have been so fun to make

max, Saturday, 8 May 2010 12:30 (fourteen years ago) link

I can imagine it'd be stressful too, because they had to get the shots just right for the satire to work. And it's out of their element a little.

One thing I know is that it was sure as hell fun to watch.

Sherman Helmsley Teabag (Cattle Grind), Saturday, 8 May 2010 13:58 (fourteen years ago) link

Justin Lin directed it. Makes sense.

Gee, Officer (Gukbe), Saturday, 8 May 2010 14:04 (fourteen years ago) link

troy's "jeff winger... you son of of a bitch"
