couple of thoughts:

- the Elzhi album/mixtape/tour cd whatever is really, really dope. he is sounding way better than Jay Electronica (not that impressed with this dude) and Guilty Simpson...not sure if this was ever really contested but I'm saying it anyway

- Pusha T is the best right now. The "Everybody Nose" remix is fucking crazy and he absolutely murders it (love the new beat for it, too)

- um, I guess this last one isn't a thought but is there a new(er) TI single floating around? besides "No Matter What"

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Monday, 12 May 2008 16:16 (fifteen years ago) link

i didn't really expect pusha to show up on a remix of a song by pharell about cocaine

re: t.i., from rolling stone

Tip says the real single, the Danja-produced “What’s Up, What’s Happening” will be out in a couple weeks. It’s a bass-heavy club track full of shout-outs to haters who thought the MC’s legal troubles would sideline him.

J0rdan S., Monday, 12 May 2008 16:21 (fifteen years ago) link

the original "everybody nose" is one of the worst songs in forever

Eughhkkk!!

ha this push verse is nice tho, the flow doesn't exactly fit him perfectly but it's still pretty cool

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Monday, 12 May 2008 16:24 (fifteen years ago) link

i havent heard the danja song but 'no matter what' is seriously one of the best records right now

deej, Monday, 12 May 2008 17:29 (fifteen years ago) link

i think it's also produced by danja, no?

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Monday, 12 May 2008 17:50 (fifteen years ago) link

could be, good beat on his part

deej, Monday, 12 May 2008 18:01 (fifteen years ago) link

the word was that danja did it but then everyone was speculating that it was toomp since tip name drops him in the third verse

J0rdan S., Monday, 12 May 2008 18:05 (fifteen years ago) link

drums sound way harder than a danja track. listening to it now it sounds way more toomp - organs + hard ass drums???

deej, Monday, 12 May 2008 18:11 (fifteen years ago) link

amazing song anyway

deej, Monday, 12 May 2008 18:12 (fifteen years ago) link

altho i can imagine it being used in the closing scene of some movie in 20 years and that kinda makes me nauseous

deej, Monday, 12 May 2008 18:12 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah it doesn't sound like danja at all-- since he did the real first single that isn't out yet i'm sure ppl got confused when this leaked

J0rdan S., Monday, 12 May 2008 18:13 (fifteen years ago) link

Remy Ma’s jailhouse nuptials were abuptly called off Monday when her rapper groom Papoose showed up with a most curious wedding present: a handcuff key.

"A wedding was scheduled today and a visitor to that wedding service was found to be in possession of jail contraband so the wedding was canceled," a corrections official told the Daily News.

"The key that was found today easily opened handcuffs that we and other law enforcement officials use," the official said.

The Brooklyn-born Papoose - real name Shamele Mackie - won’t be able to see his fiance now until November.

I know I'm the bun b stan round here....but II Trill is so great and totally blowing away my expectations! the production is crazy. totally lush sticky synths all over it and a surprisingly epic and tight sound throughout. not as much of a hodgepodge as his first one. the guests all work great. even "That's Gangsta" sounds much better to me in the context of the album, shouldn't have been the first single but is a good song and sets the pace for sound and tone for the rest of the album...

obviously "You're Everything" was gonna be dope based on the features but that beat is just SICK. also "Keep it 100" is a banger times a million.

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 17:22 (fifteen years ago) link

i didn't think "That's Gangsta" was a bad song

M@tt He1ges0n, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 17:26 (fifteen years ago) link

"damn i'm cold" is a much better single

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 17:32 (fifteen years ago) link

i'm not an A&R man so i couldn't tell you

M@tt He1ges0n, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 17:34 (fifteen years ago) link

that's gangsta is an okay song and an obvious single grab and if he needed to make a song like that for this record to come out then w/e or if he wanted to make a song like that cuz wants to be a pop star i think he's earned it at this point. it's still much better than, like, lollipop

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 May 2008 17:39 (fifteen years ago) link

no it aint

deej, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 17:42 (fifteen years ago) link

lollipop is wayyy more sui generis

deej, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 17:45 (fifteen years ago) link

better than "lollipop"!?!?!?!? COME ON!!!!

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 18:05 (fifteen years ago) link

also "damn I'm COld" would probably be a better "single grab" with an autouned weezy on it

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 18:06 (fifteen years ago) link

or BIGGER grab at pop stardom not better since I already harped on that

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 18:07 (fifteen years ago) link

"damn i'm cold" would get exactly 0 looks and 0 spins on top 40 stations, "that's gangsta" would at least get a look and maybe some crossover spins in the south, tho i still think it's too hard for top 40

anyway who cares about bun b crossover attempts and yes it's better than lollipop. i lol @ the idea of you dudes sitting through the last minute and a half of that song. do you guys air guitar? be honest

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 May 2008 18:09 (fifteen years ago) link

the guitar has a real eric clapton bud light commercial type vibe to it

M@tt He1ges0n, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 18:10 (fifteen years ago) link

i listened to the first half of II trill last night and i thought it was really good, it's like the southern 'late registration' with all these guest spots but it really works. idk how long it will stay great but it's probably the best rap album of the year so far

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 May 2008 18:11 (fifteen years ago) link

btw am i only one who think the vocals are mixed way low on "damn i'm cold"? i don't think i noticed it on any others but i keep straining to hear the verses on that song

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 May 2008 18:12 (fifteen years ago) link

the vocals are really quiet on "Get Cha Issue"

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 18:17 (fifteen years ago) link

ii trill is alright but c3 is going to sink it

kl0pper, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 19:00 (fifteen years ago) link

listening to the whole thing.

so far it seems good...wish there were a few more bluesy style beats and less synths but the beats are pretty ace for the most part.

"If I Die II Night" is epic sounding...Young Buck is so great lately.
