not able to be encompassed in a youtube clip, but: i just watched a 6-hour production of shakespeare's roman tragedies (coriolanus, julius caesar, anthony & cleopatra) by insanely awesome Toneelgroup Amsterdam. 6 hours! all awesome! they had screens all over the stage, a giant one on top (with subtitles in fr/eng), camera person on-stage and cameras seemingly everywhere, live music. audience could go sit on stage, buy drinks at a bar off to the side. there were breaks btwn acts and everyone switched seats, walked around, whatever. house was packed.

it was like watching shakespeare streamed through all yr favourite hbo dramas (Rome obv, but conventions of others too) plus law & order, and/or vice-versa, with incredible acting. at one point an actor, followed by camerawoman, ran out to st-laurent (major street outside the theatre) and screamed his anguish to the world, spitting and everything, in dutch.

4 standing ovations to a still-packed house. so glad people are doing this with theatre. i love the pros.

i don't know - i don't see it on their site, but looks like they're going to be bringing their Antonioni project (based on 3 films) to London and Bergman's Scenes from a Marriage to Paris early next year. i mean, i would consider flying to europe for that.
looks like they might be bringing Roman Tragedies to NYC in july but it says 'to be confirmed' - totally go

the altered version of "white rabbit" is great.

hey everybody

awhile back somebody posted a link to an art blog. i don't remember much about the blog except that it was an all-white layout, custom-made (not blogspot or blogger or anything like that) with simple photos of the artwork. clicking on a photo sends you to a page with lots of pics of the artist's work.

i don't remember what the linked work was, but there was another artist on the page, middle-eastern, who cuts lines into soaked paper and then dips the paper in ink.

ring any bells?

seems we're having a crackdown on gig posters and other 'illegal' postering in the city (but, i mean, i feel like this happens often). walking home, a friend discovered that her 10-yr-old son had been out defiantly postering
