click the little x, drag it onto the other little x.
Yeah, it's a great concept but somehow still really dull to play.

yeah but when it comes to the mines i can't find another x to drag it on to!

This is a multiplayer online game from the guy who made Runman. Dessgeega wrote about it:
http://www.auntiepixelante.com/?p=598
Now it's up and running, but no one's yet playing it. One guy named Chris was there, but that's not enough to get a game going (you need four or five, I think).

http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/3184/gg2iceworld.jpgGunGirl 2 is a really solid Metroidvania/run n' gun, cheesy 16-bit era aesthetic - kind of reminds me of other freeware/indie games like Survival Crisis Z. Between this and Hero Core I've been really getting my fill of these type of games.

So Frontierville on FB is actually a step above most FB social media games. Not saying it's great by any means, but they're starting to figure out how to make social media games work in interesting ways. (Link to it: http://apps.facebook.com/frontierville/ -- thing I wrote about it for more of my thoughts about why it works: http://popculturecurator.tumblr.com/post/740021134/frontierville-and-the-establishment-of-community )

I pulled something in my back and I've been pretty much laid up for the past day and a half - - - thankfully, there's Gun Girl 2. Great find. I think I ran into a sequence-wrecking glitch but it's still playable, and boy does it have great control/timing. There are things I would quibble about, and I had to turn off the special effects b/c the graphics don't work right on my machine, but it's a damn nice slice of freeware, great jump-n-shoot fun.

Manages to capture the feeling of those old "LOL u r ski-ing" vertical scrolling magazine type-in games, but with a modern gaming mechanic. Also I like how it doesn't dial down the difficulty too much when you restart after crashing, so you can get back to that difficulty sweet spot. And the tunnels are that classic "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! floor it just go go go" use-the-Force subconcious thing.

don't know why they couldn't have just put a single sentence - pick a group of four adjacent blocks where there's another group of those same four colors somewhere else on the board (can intersect with your choice), repeat until the bar fills up

i think this:
> the game is to figure out how to play the game
is part of the appeal. that said, i don't think it's as simple as you expressed it, it's slightly tighter than that.

This is weirdly satisfying in a "watch the numbers go up as things click away onscreen" way, but by Day 3 or so it really ceased to be anything resembling a "game" since the money just keeps piling up infinitely, and every decision I make can only cause that infinite growth to happen slightly faster. By Day 6 I turned off the sound and let it run as a screen saver. Granted, I was on the "easy" mode but does anything challenging ever happen in this? Like, does anyone try to steal your employees or blow up the building or whatever?
― Doctor Casino, Wednesday, 24 November 2010 02:11 (thirteen years ago) link
has anyone played achievement unlocked? really enjoyed the ~1h it took to finish it. lolled out loud at the final screen.

Granted, I was on the "easy" mode
That's your first problem.
Some of the challenges get more difficult. Keeping all the employees happy is fucking hard.
