― The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:27 (fifteen years ago) link
"shawty" was a god song but that's because of tpain, otherwise he is like the most annoying mc evar
plies is alright, he has some songs. hes certainly better than flo rida
― deej, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:32 (fifteen years ago) link
flo-rida sucks an as mc, but at least his voice and accent aren't totally grating
― The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:35 (fifteen years ago) link
i think plies new album comes out the same day as carter III
how did he manage to get t-pain->akon->ne-yo hooks on consecutive singles? dj khaled has that much pull?
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:36 (fifteen years ago) link
his label puts lots of money into him.. I remember reading Just Blaze complaning about how the labels spends so much money on Plies and won't but Saigon's album out
― The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:37 (fifteen years ago) link
it's weird like, obv most guys are drawn to his vulgarity, but his popularity among women is baffling. like, girls are totally wearing "bust it baby" airbrush tees and shit
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:42 (fifteen years ago) link
you'd think everyone would be like LOL GTFO at shit like

Got kinky with her, told her to dress up like a lawyer I was the judge last night I gave her all the orders Worked it real good, turned her round doggy spawled her Told her if I gave her anymore I’ma have to charge her Felt the vibe in the room, the feelings getting larger Took her from the bench now turned her into a starter Taste like suga, smell like water Now she into goons, all off what I taught her What I do to her make her care about me harder

In the plus column, they make music that sounds like old rap music, and old rap music is better than new rap music. The only reason rap music stopped sounding like old rap music in the first place is girls and white people. In the minus column, the Cool Kids barely have an EP out, and they're already showing a shortage of good ideas. That whole southern rap except it's not actually southern thing was kinda cool the first time they did it (okay, it wasn't), but it shows up like eight more times during the course of this EP. It's like, alright, we get it. You're ironic. What else can you do?

― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:36 (fifteen years ago) link
im totally on the cool kids bandwagon in any event
i only really like the EP, but the beats are pretty uniformly hot and each dude has some really exceptional spots wrt to rapping. they are still inconsistent but for dudes in their 20s on their first EP i think they're worth the investment
