"shawty" was a god song but that's because of tpain, otherwise he is like the most annoying mc evar

The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:27 (fifteen years ago) link

plies is alright, he has some songs. hes certainly better than flo rida

deej, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:32 (fifteen years ago) link

flo-rida sucks an as mc, but at least his voice and accent aren't totally grating

The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:35 (fifteen years ago) link

i think plies new album comes out the same day as carter III

how did he manage to get t-pain->akon->ne-yo hooks on consecutive singles? dj khaled has that much pull?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:36 (fifteen years ago) link

his label puts lots of money into him.. I remember reading Just Blaze complaning about how the labels spends so much money on Plies and won't but Saigon's album out

The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:37 (fifteen years ago) link

it's weird like, obv most guys are drawn to his vulgarity, but his popularity among women is baffling. like, girls are totally wearing "bust it baby" airbrush tees and shit

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 May 2008 18:42 (fifteen years ago) link

you'd think everyone would be like LOL GTFO at shit like

I juss gave her a nick name, it's wet-wet
Cause when we finished she mess up all the bedsets
She got sommin' to relax me when i'm under stress
Never told her, but to let her know it but she the best
She like to spell her name wit her tongue on my chest
If you had told me it was this good, i'da never guessed

but ppl just eat it up

deej, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 01:52 (fifteen years ago) link

Got kinky with her, told her to dress up like a lawyer
I was the judge last night I gave her all the orders
Worked it real good, turned her round doggy spawled her
Told her if I gave her anymore I’ma have to charge her
Felt the vibe in the room, the feelings getting larger
Took her from the bench now turned her into a starter
Taste like suga, smell like water
Now she into goons, all off what I taught her
What I do to her make her care about me harder

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 02:10 (fifteen years ago) link

good use of sample too

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 28 May 2008 21:22 (fifteen years ago) link

In the plus column, they make music that sounds like old rap music, and old rap music is better than new rap music. The only reason rap music stopped sounding like old rap music in the first place is girls and white people. In the minus column, the Cool Kids barely have an EP out, and they're already showing a shortage of good ideas. That whole southern rap except it's not actually southern thing was kinda cool the first time they did it (okay, it wasn't), but it shows up like eight more times during the course of this EP. It's like, alright, we get it. You're ironic. What else can you do?

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:26 (fifteen years ago) link

not crazy about the cool kids necessarily but gawd

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:28 (fifteen years ago) link

aight ethan jr are you gonna tell us where that is from now

J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:29 (fifteen years ago) link

It's like, alright, we get it. You're old. What else can you write about?

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:30 (fifteen years ago) link

that's Bol, the Rakim of rap blogging

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:31 (fifteen years ago) link

oh

J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:35 (fifteen years ago) link

talk about the definition of not worth your time

J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:36 (fifteen years ago) link

im totally on the cool kids bandwagon in any event

i only really like the EP, but the beats are pretty uniformly hot and each dude has some really exceptional spots wrt to rapping. they are still inconsistent but for dudes in their 20s on their first EP i think they're worth the investment

J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:38 (fifteen years ago) link

i saw them like two or three weeks ago and they absolutely murdered in front of a shit load of people who were really really hyped to see them (weirdly) and those dudes can rap their asses off for real

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:40 (fifteen years ago) link

by worth the investment i mean i think they've shown that they've got a lot of good ideas, and maybe it's backwards to praise them for being able to transcend the box they constructed for themselves but i still feel like that

the only thing is, i think the newer songs on the EP are the weakest and i don't think it bodes well that their full album is coming out in 3 months or something

J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:40 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah their whole thing so far has been handled very weirdly with releases and labels and shows and stuff who knows what the fuck is going on or how long they will last in the hype limelight

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:42 (fifteen years ago) link

also my post was either gonna be the cool kids or the new Rick Ross and Pharrell joint which is LIKE NEW HOT PRE CARTER III FIRE MUSIC but no one else will be feeling yet or ever and thank god for another ross album or more "how great is II Trill?" etc...soo take your pick

chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:43 (fifteen years ago) link

I got this 89-90 Pistons champ flat bill black starter cap with the hologram tags
White Mag rims, red rubber tires,
chain, frame, pegs, grips, shipped to my supplier
dope man attire, gimme bout an hour
and i'll have it clicking, ticking, gliding, flying like McGuyver

^^one of my favorite parts of any verse this year

J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:44 (fifteen years ago) link

another ross album really?

J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:44 (fifteen years ago) link

go bump by "put on" thread

do you still not like that song?

J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:46 (fifteen years ago) link

no. it's really pretty amazing it had to grow on me... shit is epic. but I'm trying to do the same for "Got Money" and it's coming a little bit harder...considering that the joint is gonna be inescapable in a couple weeks I guess I won't have to try that hard
