The original question = why is there something rather than nothing?

There's this guy who often walks around lower Manhattan making loud bird noises, cawing like a crow, etc. I think he's a delivery-man or something, because he is often seen carrying packages. I've passed him many times over a period of years. He always carries on as though what he's doing is completely normal. He's been around the area long enough that people on the street just ignore him.
