Gigantic, easy. But then, I also think the Breeders' Pod is vastly superior to anything the Pixies did, so what do I know.

Since it doesn't seem to have been mentioned anywhere else on ILM, this seems as good a place as any to say that Hanne Hukkelberg's cover of Break My Body is damn awesome.
― kingkongvsgodzilla, Monday, 19 November 2007 00:44 (sixteen years ago) link
Almost went for "Oh My Golly!" but switched to "Vamos" at the last second. "If we get bored....we'll move to cALiForNIAA!" A lot of things could have won this for me really. "Gigantic" obv.

Has anybody else heard this years Rykestrasse 68? It's my favourite album of songs this year. Even the Pixies cover is a good idea.

Yes, River Euphrates, though I'm much fonder of Trompe Le Monde in general.
― dlp9001, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:04 (sixteen years ago) link
The mini-suite of "Tony's Theme", "O My Golly" and "Vamos" is my favourite stretch of songs here; but for individual songs I gotta go with "Gigantic".
― Myonga Vön Bontee, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:06 (sixteen years ago) link
I'm voting for the "You fuckin' DIE!!" bit. I really don't care for this album very much.
― Mr. Snrub, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:06 (sixteen years ago) link
Break My Body.
Gigantic is overrated.
― circa1916, Monday, 19 November 2007 04:20 (sixteen years ago) link
Oh crap I can't decide. Maybe Vamos, maybe Broken Face. The album's such a time capsule for me: it immediately conjures up final year high school and my first boyfriend (whos name was Tony and whos mom was Rosa, which amused us when it came out). Funny thing is I dont get anywhere near as much out of it now as I did then. Just nostalgia.

Bone Machine. One of the best opening songs ever.
― nate woolls, Monday, 19 November 2007 08:21 (sixteen years ago) link
It was between "Bone Machine" and "Broken Face" for me - went with the later. Pretty much a coin flip.

yup. going with vamos.
― grimly fiendish, Monday, 19 November 2007 20:52 (sixteen years ago) link
hmmmm, despite it's inclusion on the Fight Club soundtrack and it's subsequent ubiquitousness (As if it wasn't played to death already), I'm going with "Where is My Mind?"
But really, give me Doolittle or Come on Pilgrim any day of the week.
― will, Monday, 19 November 2007 20:59 (sixteen years ago) link
(River Euphrates and Vamos are definitely contenders though)

i do that with albums a lot

Gigantic = easily the most boring track. Think I'm going to go with I'm Amazed too.

River Euphrates, natch.

I almost went with Bone Machine, but chose Something Against You.
― Mackro Mackro, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 03:52 (sixteen years ago) link
How exactly does that not make sense? I think it's overpraised. It's a good track, but not the best on the album. Don't think I'm being vague.
― circa1916, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 04:52 (sixteen years ago) link
I voted for Vamos after some thought. I like that it is so much longer than the rest of the album, for one thing, it wigs out a little.
I just remembered this time I was sitting outside the JB HiFi in Prahran (shhh Jim) and these two young guys, maybe 18 or so, came out holding some cds, one guy showing the other what he'd bought. The other guy asked "whos this?" and pointed at his copy of Surfer Rosa. "this is the Pixies man, they were a really influential 80s rock band! Theyre awesome apparently".
Other guy looks at cover of CD contemplatively and then says "hey man, she has her tits out on the cover. AWESOME!".

Gigantic AND River Euphrates are much better on the single. It has to be BONE MACHINE.

"Where Is My Mind?" 'Cause I often find myself asking that very question...these days.

gotta go with vamos. it still sounds fresh to me and the noisy guitar bits are still out there.
― alex in mainhattan, Sunday, 25 November 2007 15:00 (sixteen years ago) link
I've always been simultaneously a little disappointed but also pretty glad they didn't do something like this for the Come On Pilgrim/Surfer Rosa combined CD cover.
