In college my friend Ando got into downloading MIDIs of Mega Man tunes and rearranging them with hot riddims, then playing the whole mess through his wall of synthesizers and drum machines and FX boxes etc before mixing down to cassette. I wish I had some mp3s of that or a CDR somewhere. So money.

not to mention I also actually purchased the OSTs for both Katamari Damacy and the JP release of Gran Turismo 3, which is so much better than the US version.
I am going to win this thread. Ugh.

title music in Starray (amiga defender clone, best ever in fact)
one of the tunes on Super Hang-on, i think it was the third choice (Winning Run?)
my all time fave though was the title music on 'The Plot' on the Spectrum. beautiful little ditty.

I used to do this with the first one on gameboy. Years later a friend's band recorded a song with almost exactly the same guitar solo, claiming it was unintentional. I love their version as much as I did Turrican's!
Amazing! I've got that game on CD somewhere, so maybe I can get the music out of it somehow. It was the panpipes that made AITD. (Strangely, tying in with my reply to Ste, I was in a band about four years ago named after that game.)

I disagree. I have both albums in my itunes and I listen to the KD soundtrack a lot but I always wind up turning off the new one or skipping to what I consider to be the "good" songs — which are few and far between, imo.

I've only heard the music from FF X, but I liked it because it seemed very incidental and unassuming. It didn't get in the way and held up well after constant replay.

It was Yasunori Mitsuda, who also did Chrono Trigger (with the Final Fantasy guy) and uh, Tsuganai: Atonement.
I fucked up the sound quality on the nintendo mix somehow when I finished it. It was edited together using Cool Edit 96 (registered to PhRoZeN cReW 97!!!!) and I somehow saved it wrang. It's gotta be cleaned up!

This is cool, though most won't even be familiar with the original music (game only shipped 10,000 copies in the States). Not sure how many units they shipped to other countries, if at all (other than Japan).
http://store.bravewave.net/album/resurrection-panzer-dragoon-saga-20th-anniversary-arrangement-2
Brave Wave is proud to announce the release of a new arrangement soundtrack for the legendary SEGA Saturn RPG, Panzer Dragoon Saga. Saori Kobayashi, the game's original co-composer, has selected 20 tracks from the original game and given them fresh, new arrangements that will allow longtime series fans to reminisce about the game's iconic music while simultaneously experiencing it in a brand new way. Joining Kobayashi is Eri Ito, one of the original vocalists for the game. She lends her powerful and dramatic vocals to two songs. Five tracks are backed by the Washington D.C.-based video game music band, Triforce Quartet, with three songs featuring the backing of Boston-based flutist Maho Azuma.

The channel "8-bit music theory" is self-explanatory. Maybe I only find it interesting because I know very little about music theory. Try the video on Mega Man 2 at least.

saw this in the used bins today. may have to go back and buy it. a fucking yars' revenge storybook album. mix of rambling story and actual score with game samples. the song "yars' revenge" is blatantly ripped from "living in the plastic age." "fly yar warriors" is also something but i can't place it right this second. who the fuck made this?
