Again, I find it weird that anything by Monster Magnet would be one of someone's ALL TIME favorite hard rock songs...but I guess a lot of factors go into why we like what we like.

maybe because it's a song in one of my fave genres, that i was big into when it came out. Like Rush is for the over 40s and others into 80s hair metal.
Plus i guess not everyones into the canon even in metal? (tho i am)

when i saw MM co-headling with Qotsa, i was jumping about like a maddy during this song (even more than usual)

Hey, I'm not over 40 yet! I'm only 36. :P

I'm 37, but i didn't really discover non chart rock/pop til i was 18 and nirvana broke. (like a lot of people, Nirvana was a gate way to Metal and/or Indie)

I hated the late 80s hair metal fluff one of my mates was into, but thrash & death was too heavy for me. When i heard slower doomier stuff i got sucked in.

Monster Magnet was awesome at one point - truly great, and this song is part of that era.

next song is by one of my fave bands, which came from one of my other fave bands, i voted for 3 tracks by this band, but not this one , it got cut.. What the hell do I know what will place high!

I'm waiting for more than one of the ten I voted for to show up. Utter crime that "Victim of Changes" was so low, especially with "Three Days" (which is such a pale shadow of it) placing higher. But such is life - I don't really care about the tracks.

it's the best one! As much influenced by can and neu as sabbath or stoner rock. Josh called it "robot rock"

My tastes are being reflected? Sure, I've had some things I voted for place, but I'd hardly say this overall poll caters to my taste.

I was in New York and posting from my ipod is annoying. Plus, I was really sick which made it a pretty crappy short vacation - except for catching up with Alex, which was a blast.

I like Deep Purple and Rainbow both, but I don't think there's anything really AMAZING or GUITAR HERO-ISH about Blackmore's skills.

I'm giving up on "Nobody's Fool" making it. I'm not even a huge fan of Cinderella, but I think that song is not only one of the best metal songs, not only one of the best songs of the '80s, but one of the best songs I've ever heard. I'm slightly more confident "Rock You Like a Hurricane" might sneak in, but with this voting demographic, I have no certainty that it will.

As for what's come up so far, there have been new discoveries for me, but none of them have been positive. As for what I have heard previously, I've got no gripes with most of it...except "More Than a Feeling." It's about as welcome here by me as that wimpy Manics song.

Oh, and I like Boston fine. I just don't think it fits the parameters.

And to repeat what I said at the time of their unveiling, Welcome to the Jungle and Number of the Beast are way, way, way too low (even though I neglected to do my part in boosting Jungle to a higher position).

All 10 will be from Peste Noire's debut album, which was recorded on a single four track tape and then buried in Greenland. Also there are only 4 songs on it.

1 track from a '00s band I know nothing about
1 wild card track from either the '70s or the '00s

hmm, interesting no 90s tracks predicted.

Clearing my mind, here's what I think I would have predicted before we started:

Sort of crazy to have no Black or Death Metal, but I just couldn't see any individual tracks having anywhere near the support-levels of these classics.
