I actually had a long period of hating Stairway, but now I'm back around to thinking it's heaven's gift to my ears.

I also thought 'Paranoid' would take the whole thing

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:03 (thirteen years ago) link

I don't like anything on the first side of IV and never have. Yes, I know that makes me weird.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:04 (thirteen years ago) link

'Stairway''s the type of track that places #11 in ilm polls

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:04 (thirteen years ago) link

Hoping Misty Mountain Hop makes it in

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:04 (thirteen years ago) link

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:04 (thirteen years ago) link

My #1 is still alive.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:04 (thirteen years ago) link

So is mine, but since my #1 is "Nobody's Fool," I gave up on seeing it about 60 spots ago.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:05 (thirteen years ago) link

Mine too. I'm hopeful

TIE FOR 15 Iggy and the Stooges · Search and Destroy (1973) (576 votes · 15 voters - 1 number one vote)

The falseness, it is staggering.

There is an old dog proverb which says "If a man cover his body in peanut butter, beware him, for his intentions are not good."

Whither Supernaut...

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:09 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh well, there's my #1 now

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:10 (thirteen years ago) link

But Henry, he wants to be YOUR dog.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:10 (thirteen years ago) link

Ridiculous nonsense. His name is Iggy POP, eh?! not Iggy Metal... should be a clue right there folks.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:11 (thirteen years ago) link

I voted for "Search..." I believe.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:12 (thirteen years ago) link

This might as well be some Velvet Underground track...

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:12 (thirteen years ago) link

Wow, that song sounds twice as mean in youtube quality audio.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:13 (thirteen years ago) link

This might as well be some Velvet Underground track...

^really???

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:14 (thirteen years ago) link

its about that level of "hard" and "heavy"

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:14 (thirteen years ago) link

meaning, pretty weak.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:15 (thirteen years ago) link

I'm betting (hoping?) that was really dry sarcasm.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:15 (thirteen years ago) link

Ok, I guess not.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:15 (thirteen years ago) link

You've actually HEARD the Velvet Underground, yes?

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:16 (thirteen years ago) link

probably not as much as you I guess.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:17 (thirteen years ago) link

There is an old dog proverb which says "If a man cover his body in peanut butter, beware him, for his intentions are not good."

^^^that sounds pretty doggone metal to me, pup.

Quo riff just isn't a suitable vehicle for interplanetary exploration (Ioannis), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:23 (thirteen years ago) link

twas my #2 (or 3) by the way.

signed,

falsest of the false

Quo riff just isn't a suitable vehicle for interplanetary exploration (Ioannis), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:24 (thirteen years ago) link

The Velvet Underground are pretty much egghead wimps. Search and Destroy is a monster of a track so far removed from the mellow stylings of shit like "Sunday Morning" it's not even funny.

Supernaut's my #1 track.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:25 (thirteen years ago) link

I'm willing to admit that I'm wrong. Bill you are truer than troo.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:26 (thirteen years ago) link

I expect it to top the poll, to be honest.

So can anybody tell me why, at a certain point, all these metal singers started straining their voices to growl in such an unappealing manner? Because they sound like douchebags now, which is most of the reason I stopped following it whenever it was I stopped following it.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:33 (thirteen years ago) link

Sing low. Sing high. Sing in the middle. Stop trying to sound like a hungry lion, ffs.

Seriously, I am distressed by the lack of Thin Lizzy! I love Pentagram too but I figured the were too obscure to garner a lot of votes.

its ilm, what did you expect

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:37 (thirteen years ago) link

No Alice Cooper, one BOC. Strange for ILM.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:37 (thirteen years ago) link

not everyone is stuck in the 70s. 80s clearly ilms fave decade yet again
