BOSTON — NBA analyst David Aldridge said Wednesday that with the addition of Shaquille O'Neal, the Celtics have vastly improved their chances of leading the league in three-second lane violations for the 2010–2011 season. "Not only does Shaq's presence in the paint give his team more opportunities to turn the ball over, but the Celtics have also added an experienced big man who makes an already old team significantly older," said Aldridge, adding that O'Neal should fill a key role in terms of drastically slowing down the Celtics' offense. "Danny Ainge was looking for someone with size who can't make it down to the other end of the court, and he went out and got the best in the business." Aldridge added that while O'Neal isn't the dominant force he once was, he believes Shaq still has a thing or two to teach teams who think it's a good idea to sign him.

He may not entirely solidify the C's, but he can add a lot of viscosity.

according to bobby marks it saves them money next year cause jrue declined his larger player option, i think he was saying it keeps them out of the second apron but it was unclear

i don’t think it gets them out on its own but gives them more of a path to getting out than before

White has two years remaining on the four-year, $70 million extension he signed with the Spurs in 2020. He’s due to earn $18.4 million this season and then $19.6 million in 2024-25. Under the new rules of the collective bargaining agreement, White can extend for three years at 140% of his 2024-25 salary, so a deal would look like something around three years, $85 million that would begin in 2025-26.

this is a year out of date but sounds like white could extend for ~$28m around the same money jrue got, which seems pretty good for him hes obvs a very good and valued player but im not sure whos maxing him out, tho he could play out the last year of his deal and get more from the celtics, or effectively force a trade to a team thats willing to give him more if the celtics arent, hope they just extend him asap that would be nice

i understand the desire to not let your players get rusty, but is having your starters play this badly for 30-plus minutes a night contributing to that cause?
