Alex in Baltimore, Thursday, 17 January 2008 01:31 (sixteen years ago) link

even though the whole gimmick is getting of old and i hate all the nerds in the comments of all these, crooked i is a pretty awesome mixtape rapper, this is one of the better ones recently:

new bun b single is pretty good even tho the lyrical territory is pretty well worn. incl. a barely-recognizable sean kingston.

typo of the year:

He went on to admonish the Internet bloggers who spread lies. "You know what I tell 'em? Y'all ni--as ain't fresh as I'm is," Bow said, leading into "Fresh Az I'm Iz." That was followed by the "I Think They Like Men" remix, where the crowd rapped along to his catchy one-liners like "I'm under 21 with a black card."

Alex in Baltimore, Friday, 18 January 2008 19:48 (sixteen years ago) link

hahahaha no wayno

"hell hath no fury" didn´t make it 2006 nor 2007. last hiphop album i liked. ok there was k.i.z in germany...but that´s more an art thing. and who would care about kanye west without the justice-influence

RONGest comment of 08:

also, i thought Big Boi had one of the worst verses on the "I'm So Hood" remix (of the guys that're good rappers at least.) the more i think about his '07 guest verses i think dude needs to step his game up, 'specially compared to Andre.

M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 18 January 2008 22:10 (sixteen years ago) link

what happened to the single that Big Boi was gonna drop at midnight on new years?? I'm definitely anticipating Sir Luscious Left Foot more than I am Bun's new one since that track is so utterly disappointing and dull.

even "speedin" is more interesting. Its like jr rotem is the poor mans The Runners (who are a poor mans cool & dre) and sean Kingston was brought in as a cheap replacement for the kells/Akon/tpain hook factory. And lord knows Rick Ross is no Bun B!! wtf!?

Preview of the Matrix 12, Saturday, 19 January 2008 06:54 (sixteen years ago) link

well rotem did "beautiful girls" so i'm sure him and kingston are tight so it makes sense that he's on the hook

i just don't get why bun would even wanna fuck with rotem? it's not even like he got a pop song out of it!!

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 January 2008 07:36 (sixteen years ago) link

actually he did the whole SK album...but, yeah.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 January 2008 21:31 (sixteen years ago) link

i think they should write something into the code where the immediate post after a new poster's first post is ilx system saying "you must be new here, man. we the best, man"

I love how they give the cop a watch worth thousands and thousands of dollars to avoid a hundred dollar speeding ticket.

killer mike workin with No ID. a HOOS is amped:

That was the boy No ID man. He’s actually executive producing the next major album, the one that’s going to be on a major label. As an artist you be on a label…the s**t that supposed to be happening, not happening…you get angry, you from the neighborhood and you be wanting to do that neighborhood s**t, that dumb s**t. He [No ID] was one of the people that said, “Hey man, you need to study Kanye, you need to study this.” He and I have similar ideologies and philosophies, he was able to help me re-center. Otherwise my separation from Purple Ribbon probably wouldn’t have been as amicable. Even though it wasn’t as amicable as it could have been, it wouldn’t have been that amicable.

And then [No ID] got some new opportunities and it made sense for us to clique up and do our thing. Beyond him being the No ID now that everybody know from Kanye song [”Big Brother”], Resurrection is one of the records that helped changed my life. There’s certain records that happened in my lifetime that really made an adjustment to how I approach music and that record was one of them.

though realistically i haven't really been hit by a no id track in a minute.

just seeing the names together is cool though.

man the new papoose songs - law library, like what you love - are so fucking lame...i don't know what i ever saw in that dude...i like his voice for some reason, but god he seems to be regressing with every song, flow is getting SLOPPIER if that was even possible. the game in NYC is so fucked up, everyone gets stuck in mixtape limbo until no one cares

A search of the bus turned up 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine and ecstacy believed to be in Carter's possession, Sanchez said.

Carter, also known as "Weezy," performs both rap and hip hop and is known for his mixtapes, in which he blends pre-recorded beats with an uninterrupted, unrehearsed flow of rap lyrics.

Fans of his in Yuma expressed shock over news of his arrest in Yuma County, although not necessarily over the fact of arrest.

"That's so crazy, I can't believe he's in Yuma," said fan, Laura Garcia." I love his music - I just love him. He's really fan- based and I like his voice when he flows. I'm not shocked he was arrested for drugs, I 'm just shocked he was in Yuma. I mean, what was he doing here?"

Twenty-four-year-old Britton Bowns wasn't surprised by the southern rapper's arrest.

"It's like whatever, he's not the first rapper to be busted. I dig his mixtape stuff and the tracks 'Sky's the Limit', 'Mo' Fire' and the 'Drought III' album is off the hinges," Bowns said.

"I've been listening to him since he dropped his solo stuff in '99 when he was like 16. He's one of the sickest lyricist I've heard. When he was on 'The Basement' on BET he did a free-style rap, acapella and tore the roof off."

Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah recently delivered an blunt message via YouTube to fans to stop downloading his new album, The Big Doe Rehab.

In a video message posted on his MySpace page, Ghostface bluntly spells out his disappointment over the meager performance of his latest album , which hit stores in early December, blaming illegal downloads for the source of poor sales:

"I got 115,000 friends on MySpace and I get 30,000 (copies sold) in the first week -- that's not good. I know a lot of y'all got (the album) but you downloaded it."

Fan responses, posted to Ghostface's MySpace page and below the YouTube video, range from supportive well-wishers to blatant, unapologetic admissions of guilt.

After a final appeal urging fans to purchase the album, Ghostface promises special attention to fans willing to fork over the cash:

"Bring the CD to the show and I'll kick it with y'all."
