i like foolish and dey know.
but it sorta pissed my off how he repeated his "ha ha ha" line in the remix for foolish.
― any major some dude will tell you (M@tt He1ges0n), Monday, 17 November 2008 02:59 (fifteen years ago) link
yeah the "Foolish" remix really wiped away everything that was good about the original.
you guys need to hear the Shawty Lo verse on the last Khaled album, it's so ridiculously lazy that it's almost more impressive than if he'd tried to write good rhymes.

― dat dude delmar (and what), Monday, 24 November 2008 20:09 (fifteen years ago) link
The joint with Royce on the Black Milk is tight, but as for the rest... the production is kinda interesting, I guess, but not good enough to make up for Milk's weakness as a rapper.
― Mikaael Jackson (The Reverend), Monday, 24 November 2008 22:46 (fifteen years ago) link
last black milk was much, much better. this one is ok.

i peeped a Murs promo and there's an ad for Murs clothes and it's all like something an Abe Vigoda fan would wear

whiney, bringing up abe vigoda in the ringtone thread is probably the most in character post ever

saying "Abe Vigoda" out of context and expecting everyone to understand you mean some indie band and not the actor they're named after is probably the most in character post ever

How many other hip-hop albums are entirely based on movies? The only other one I can think of right now is Nighthawks

if we're gonna count mixtapes with movie-themed titles/covers/skits like that Juelz thing, then thousands.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/25/washington/25pardons.html?scp=2&sq=pardons&st=cse
"The closest any of the defendants came to celebrity was John E. Forté, a hip-hop artist and backup singer to Carly Simon who was convicted of aiding and abetting in the distribution of cocaine. (Ms. Simon put up the bail of $250,000 for Mr. Forté when he was arrested in 2001 at Newark International Airport.) Mr. Forté was sentenced to 14 years in prison, but Mr. Bush commuted the remainder of his sentence."
Could anything possibly be more gangster than going to jail for over a million dollars in liquid coke, serving half your sentence and then being pardoned by W?

its weird none of this shit seems particularly fun to dance to -- im used to old-ilx-style debates about dance music where everybody talks in reductive terms about a black-white polarity between funkless trance and groovin disco-house or whatever, and although i reject the simple and wrongheaded binary opposition there i have to admit it has sorta subconsciously informed the way i look at a lot of dance, even if in the most general, so-many-exceptions-to-the-rule terms.
this stuff though has really done a service to this sort of offensive race-informed discourse by removing it -- so many shitty djs of all races in this scene, and it is a genuinely diverse scene .... and sometimes it'll have good ideas and sometimes it will have shitty ones, but the worst is this BMORE BREAK x BORING GRATING SYNTH MELODY thing. and this isnt some lol im old bullshit i dont think -- this feels different, like i 'get' whats fun to dance to when listening to a bmore mix, i 'get' house music (obviously) but this stuff seems sheerly irritating when its all thrown together, like there's no vibe, no attempt to really make anything happen, just to signify 'progress' by with this cobbled together frankenstein dance music
