I'm saying, guys, I don't get behind the played, tired, wack, anachronistic, neon-tinted concept at all; but every once in a blue moon they produce something that I enjoy on a visceral level that transcends overthinking.

i would like their shit if they all weren't 3 1/2 minutes long or w/e. it gets kinda tiring. i think a lot of their ideas are great but ive never listened to any of their tracks in full i dont think

Though I WILL say that hipster-hop has been as hit or miss as any sub-sub-sub-genre:

-one or two killer MCs (Wale, Kidz In The Hall)
-some OK-at-best singles from some not-so-killer MCs that probably won't be around next year (Cool Kids "Mikey Rocks," Knux "Cappuchino," Izza Kizza, "Walk That Dog")
-some pretty awful rappers getting an amazing amount of hype because of the way they dress (Jay Electronica, Mickey Factz, Kid Cudi)
-some downright loathsome shit that needs to get murked (Uffie, Kid Sister)

Also eth could you back up off dudes who're excited about a rap album I mean goddamn at least its not Wale or whatever the backpackisphere is riding for this month.

Jay has vocal personality, interesting flow and internal rhyme schemes all over. Wale sounds like his Dad just dragged him out of bed and into the studio so he could lay down some rhymes.

Granted they're both gimmicky to a degree: t/s rapping over 'eternal sunshine' score vs. rapping over seinfeld clips
