I'LL FOLLOW YOU DOWN TO THE SOUND OF MY VOICE THAT HAUNTS YOU
YOU'LL NEVER GET AWAY FROM THE SOUND OF THE WOMAN THAT LOVES YOU

(cue psycho knife-in-shower sound effect)

I am actually, completely coincidentally, listening to Mr. Wonderful right now.

I think I can pretty confidently say that it *was* a bit of a drop-off from the dog-and-dustbin lp. Vernon's production isn't quite as misty and gripping here .. it's a little more basic. Jeremy's songs weren't as fun ... Danny Kirwan couldn't have arrived soon enough.

three months pass...
Now here you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down
Its only right that you should
Play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat.. drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost...
And what you had...
And what you lost

Thunder only happens when its raining
Players only love you when theyre playing
Say... women... they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean... youll know

Now here I go again, I see the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself
Its only me
Who wants to wrap around your dreams and...
Have you any dreams youd like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness...
Like a heartbeat... drives you mad...
In the stillness of remembering what you had...
And what you lost...
And what you had...
And what you lost

Thunder only happens when its raining
Players only love you when theyre playing
Say... women... they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean... youll know

i had his cd back in the day. i had a friend who once went up to him very wasted at a bar and said to him, "i want to taste your fuck" or something similarly vulgar.

rrrobyn, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 21:58 (seventeen years ago) link

my favorite is when i listen to tusk in the morning before work and then i go sit in my quiet office and 'over and over' plays over and over in my head ALL DAY.

y'all need new friends!

tehresa, Thursday, 26 April 2007 02:52 (seventeen years ago) link

Ian, was that book the Cath Carroll thing, by chance?? I didn't know she had written a book about Rumours until I saw it in a used book store the other day. Did not pick it up but I am curious..

"Hold Me" is me fave track of all time, as i've written all over ILM numerous times. Is there anything different about the 12" version?

and yeah, I'm with the "Over My Head" love ... love all those guitar harmonics

Stormy Davis, Thursday, 26 April 2007 02:58 (seventeen years ago) link

Lindsey is doing "World Keeps Turning" and "I'm So Afraid" back-to-back on his current tour ... so ultramega

Stormy Davis, Thursday, 26 April 2007 03:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Nothing diff abt the 12" thing; album version on both sides, no extras. it has a nice plain black & white sleeve with large lettering. i just like to have it. because i also like that song very, very much. i think i have the picsleeve single too but i'm not sure.

The book may have been the Cath Carroll one? I borrowed it from a friend; it had a red cover.

ian, Thursday, 26 April 2007 03:09 (seventeen years ago) link

wait i thought powderfinger was the best song of all time

river wolf, Thursday, 26 April 2007 03:13 (seventeen years ago) link

i am rocking out side b of buck/nicks now. "races are run" indeed.

ian, Thursday, 26 April 2007 04:03 (seventeen years ago) link

maybe there should be a separate thread for Powderfinger, about which i recall stormy saying something like

(para) "There are times when Powderfinger seems like the most important song ever written"

i can get down with that

river wolf, Thursday, 26 April 2007 04:16 (seventeen years ago) link

red means run, son.
i have spoken of my powderfinger love before on ILM i think. i know i have talked to p3t3 sm1th about it.
