Jerome, I need a mirror!

Speedy (Speedy Gonzalas), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:01 (twenty years ago) link

I think I bought Color of Success the day it came out. Morris Day solo lp? That was an EVENT...

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:02 (twenty years ago) link

surely the one redeeming moment of Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back was "Morris Day and the muthafuckin' Time!"

Al (sitcom), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:41 (twenty years ago) link

and the bit where the girls are all posing provocatively around the van.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:42 (twenty years ago) link

Anybody who hasn't seen Graffiti Bridge yet, should. Morris and Jerome suggest a menage a trois to Ingrid Chavez in song.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:44 (twenty years ago) link

I just began my run of re-watching all of the Prince movies again. I'll get there sometime soon.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:45 (twenty years ago) link

I like how the first photo is Smoove B.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:46 (twenty years ago) link

vh1 classic shows "the bird" every time I turn it on. I've seen it three times this week alone.

(reading Matos's "Sign" book makes this thread all the more the happy for the me)

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:49 (twenty years ago) link

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Saturday, 3 April 2004 20:59 (twenty years ago) link

You are not alone.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 3 April 2004 21:01 (twenty years ago) link

I'm getting it the day I get my next paycheck.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 3 April 2004 21:01 (twenty years ago) link

Really.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 3 April 2004 21:01 (twenty years ago) link

Nah, I'm just waiting until I see it at my local book store - but Matos, if you put yourself through a author review on Amazon I promise to go out of my way to buy it. (sadly I coudn't think of any Morris related quotes to go with that)

MORRIS DAY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>PRINCE

David Allen (David Allen), Sunday, 4 April 2004 04:45 (twenty years ago) link

An argument over which persona is better: I'd still go with Prince - inspite of all his bullshit at his peak he's a lot funnier than Morris - see Black Album for proof (greatest comedy album?)

I still demand Morris day for next Basement Jaxx album (and Jesse on Guitar "Jesse play me one of those sexy solos"

Jedmond (Jedmond), Sunday, 4 April 2004 04:58 (twenty years ago) link

dude morris just sang over prince's scratch vocals. im not sayin morris aint the shit.. but the time was all prince for the most part. until later on of course.

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Sunday, 4 April 2004 05:52 (twenty years ago) link

WHERE IS DAN PERRY?!?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 4 April 2004 06:13 (twenty years ago) link

The Time released an album called Pandemonium a few years before Killing Joke did.

Yeah, but even Jaz Coleman isn't crazy enough to fuck with Morris Day.

I mean, Morris Day might threaten to do the Oak Tree or something!

-- Tad (llamasfu...), December 6th, 2002.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i still like the idea of a Jaz Coleman v. Morris Day FITE!
-- Tad (llamasfu...), December 7th, 2002.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I cannot stop laughing at the mental image of Morris Day angrily oaktree-ing at Jaz Coleman, who huddles inthe corner whimpering, "No... please... NO MORE!!!"
-- Dan Perry (djperr...), December 8th, 2002.

You serious? Hot Damn! The whole The Time? Now I must Tivo.

matt2, Thursday, 31 January 2008 15:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Yup yup, there was a post about it on Idolator last week.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 31 January 2008 15:15 (sixteen years ago) link

its amazing! although who put that one together i dont know. what are they going to sing together?!

mr x, Thursday, 31 January 2008 15:26 (sixteen years ago) link

what was that sitcom he was in?...I recall he was a bit of a stiff as a comedic actor, which surprised me, given his larger-than-life stage persona...

henry s, Thursday, 31 January 2008 15:28 (sixteen years ago) link

My wishlist: Umbrella --> Please Don't Stop the Music --> My Drawers (Please let this happen) --> (oh of course it'll be Jungle Love, but still) Jerk Out or Get It Up or 777-9311. Cause of course they are going to do an at-least-four-song medley right? I hope the segment lasts 30 minutes.

matt2, Thursday, 31 January 2008 15:43 (sixteen years ago) link

i want them to play cool, the stick or get it up.

mr x, Thursday, 31 January 2008 15:44 (sixteen years ago) link

He does ads for a car dealer here in Atlanta. It's not too pretty.

Morris & co. may not have played on the albums, but damn they were a shit hot live band from the get-go. Listening to live boots from '81 -'83 and they are killing it!

His departure might have something to with he's playing with D'angelo on his upcoming tour...

The Pastiche Liberation Front (sonnyboy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 20:37 (twelve years ago) link

I'm happy to hear Jesse has something on deck. It'd be cool to see him with D'Angelo but not as cool as The Time.

still dont get how rhianna was the partner for their grammys performance a few years back. the time are such a boys-will-be-boys kind of group, its a bit weird. though i didnt mind. and i liked them dancing together.

was listening to ice cream castles recently, and didnt totally get why a song called if the kid cant make you come (in favour of the kid, not against him), is on their album? surely that didnt fit with the film setting the kid and morris against each other? a strange oversight on princes part there.

StillAdvance, Friday, 10 June 2016 13:00 (seven years ago) link

anyone seen morris lately? im seeing him in a few weeks, with mark ronson, and erm, cee-lo.

I'm reading the Duane Tudahl book on Purple Rain — I had no idea Morris Day is a kick-ass drummer along with everything else that's great about him.

Apparently Prince's estate has told Morris Day that he can no longer use the name "Morris Day & The Time" in any capacity. Check their Facebook page (I can't link to it) it's the latest post and publicly viewable with no account.
