Also, Neil LaBute. Though Your Friends and Neighbors compares interestingly to Hundstage, unfavorably I think; the latter has been accused of having no feelings for its characters, but the former shows what that would actually look like (unless you think LaBute has contempt, which ok yeah)

I've only seen Dog Days and found it amazing, despite the tedious misogyny. Perhaps that is part of the point for him, but I think he definitely has a keen eye for portraying themes/ideas as characters and as with Solondz and Clark, it's sad to see him bogged down with hamfisted "controversy."

twelve years pass...

Dog Days is incredible and horrible. Maria Hofstätter is great and essential comic relief, somehow reminiscent of a cross between Edith Massey & Kim McGuire.
