I like this and I like that. I'm intrigued by the fact that Otis has heard all this cool stuff that I haven't, and therefore am also jealous of the bastard. I do things. I enjoy things. I smile. How are you? Yes, I love me too. Embrace the nothingness that is me. Further lies to be found at my home page.

Hi, I occasionally post on ILM but there is one thing that I don't understand that occurs rather frequently.

Why are so many of the ILM cadre of ex-indie rockers ashamed of indie? (that's USA indie, not the UK "Boy Bands w/ Guitars"/Britpop indie)

Yes, y'all wearing your indie clothes, checking out indie girls/boys, closet listening to indie allthewhile suspectly buying other genres to boost your ILM cred... you are among the first to bash "Indie: The Genre"?

<wigga>Why ya frontin', y0?</wigga>

Peer pressure? Diseased with musical fashion? is this a po-mo "ironic" move like the fleeting destiny's child/missy elliot affection of last year?

My Life In Music by X. Y. Zedd

I was born as a shiny new vinyl 45-rpm record in 1969; when the doctor pressed a needle to my skin, he heard "Ball Of Fire" by Tommy James And The Shondells. Well fed by a diet of pop radio, I rapidly grew into a slim long-player and people would call me "Ziggy Stardust." Then I grew bigger and fatter until I was "Yessongs" by 1974, with triple gatefold and Roger Dean apparel. My adolescent rebellion wavered between slipping cantakerous Harry Partch cantatas and Kraftwerk concept album sleeves over my soul. Bloated and overplayed, I suddenly broke (though I was labeled "unbreakable"), and out of my shards grew a thousand punk and New Wave records. For a brief time I spun wilder and faster and became a 12-inch single of "Rapture" by Blondie, but soon broke out in a bad case of crackles and pops. Remixed and posing anew as "Twenty Jazz-Funk Greats" by Throbbing Gristle, I spun 'round on the turntable of education until I was formally rejected. By the time I was "The Queen Is Dead," I'd lost my virginity to an eight-track and suddenly metamorphosed as a cassette. Over the years I became worn out through too much abuse of my "Bone Machine" "cassingles," so I went into silent hibernation, wrapped a jewel case about me, and became a fully grown Aphex Twin double CD. Now I am contemplating whether or not to undergo life counseling and try out being an audiovisual DVD of "Vespertine" by Bjork or pare back and settle for a career as a minidisk of Matmos or Momus. In the meantime, I've lost a lot of weight and am proud to show off my trim mp3 files of rare Brian Eno bootlegs to hard drives I know and love.

You are my DJ, I am what you play.

#1 To whoever said Pac ain't one of the best when it comes to lyrics, you r wrong. He had it from the start of his rap career to the end. PAIN--steady thuggin' in the streets/ and i'll be ballin' loc/ don't let'em make you worry/ keep swingin' at these suckas till you buried/ i was born to raise hell, a nigga from the gutta,/ with a motha on drugs/ i'm kickin dust up/ ready ta bust/ i'm on the scene/ steady muggin' mean /until they kill me/ i'll be livin this life/ i know you feel me. One of his last UNTIL THE END OF TIME--- Perhaps I was addicted to tha dark side/ Some where inside my childhood I missed my heart die / And even though we both came from tha same places /Tha money and tha fame made us all change places /Could it be through tha misery/ They can't get past?/ The hard times make a true friend afraid to ask/ for currency but you can run to me when you need it/.... It never stop, when my mama ask me will I change/ I tell her yeah but it's clear I'll always be tha same/.... Remain strong in this planet full of playa hataz/ They conversate but Death Row full of demonstrators/ And in tha end drinkin' henassy/ made all my enemies envy me/ So cold when I flow eliminatin' easily/ Fall to they knees, they plead for they right to breath / While beggin' me to keep tha peace haha/ What I can see closer to achieve/ In times of danger don't freeze time to be a G/ Follow my lead I supply everything you need/ An ounce of game and tha trainin' to make a G'/ Remember me? No disrespect but do your homework cuz. #2 Whoever wanted to bring Nelly, Luda, and Mystcal into the debate ...you r str8 up tripin. That's all I'll say on them; they don't even get half a bar from me. #3 Don Was, I agree with you to a point dogg, but why does one person have to stick to one style? How come Nas can't do some thug songs and then do some Puff songs too? I feel you on an artist being true, but why can't he try it all without being lable a seelout. I'm not sayin you said this, but we shouldn't pigion hold people. Besides it ain't one rapper that I can think of that has a CD with nothing but HARDCORE songs, I said it before, u gotta put out a few MTV songs. I know many disagree, but u can't have it both ways. Some are going by the sales. Okay, well the MTV songs sale. But if Nas keeps it all street then it won't sale as many and then peeps say "It only sold half a mil." And Jay has put out many less than hardcore songs why isn't he called out for that? Izzo, and Girls, Girls. I like em both but if y'all goin say Nas fell off with "Hate me now" remember it goes both ways. Holla. Qoolout of D.C. baby

For instance, right now I'm in a good mood. I'm listening to Lil Mama's "Lip Gloss." Why? It's catchy, and it makes me very happy. Those two things are fundamentally related.

A few days ago, I was feeling quite depressed (no need to go into the shitty circumstances). Lots of other people probably would play happy music in this case, but when I'm depressed, I find pop music futile...It doesn't change anything at all, so I play depressing music, like "Mad World" or "Love Will Tear Us Apart."

When it comes to emotions, Led Zeppelin doesn't really do anything for me. I find the music boring/soulless and as I've said 10391049+ times on this thread, it just seems to be trying too hard.

OK, I know folk rock is a hard genre to define because some of it is 75% rock and 20% folk and 5% cheese.

But make a short list of new folk & folk rock that matters. And another short list of what "isn't that good"

three months pass...

Hello! Finally. I started posting here recently and I was in a crappy mood this week, so if I snapped at anybody, I'm sorry for doing that. Sorry CaptainLorax. It was just me.

Anyway, I live in Seattle in the Capitol Hill neighborhood with my girl who I'll call Jamee. Right near Broadway, the street that keeps pumping more value into our pad but gets crappier and more depressing as time passes. Now we're just waiting to see when it becomes too much to live in this place or when the value will hit its highest peak. It's like Vegas baby!

Jamee and I are both dykes in our forties. We currently love rnb and dance music. We used to love punk rock, hip hop, and experimental or industrial music and we still do, but we don't live there anymore if that makes it clear. I'm here just to see if I Love Music will help me discover material that I have been missing or not getting all these decades. And you guys seem knowledging and eager to share the 411.

No, my girl and I think the Indigo Girls are blah. They are pleasant enough and if they came over the speakers or the radio when we are with company, we would not stick our fingers in our throats or leave. And I wish I could say the lesbian Indigo Girls stereotype was not true but it is, with our friends anyway. Rnb, funk, hip hop, punk rock or whatever else I mentioned speaks to both of us a lot more than the whole granola lez folk thing. But that's just us. The only frustrating thing is that some of my friends will not even consider Sinead O Connor or Bonnie Raitt, who we do not worship, but are so much more interesting than the Indigo Girls. We do have friends who love the Rnb the funk and the hip hop though, so we're definitely not going crazy or nothing. *Lol*

Now it's time for me to hush and let someone else take the stage.

I went out walking
Through streets paved with gold
Lifted some stones, saw the skin and bones
Of a city without a soul
I went out walking
Under an atomic sky
Where the ground won't turn and the rain it burns
Like the tears when I said goodbye
Yeah, I went with nothing
Nothing but the thought of you
I went wandering
I went drifting
Through the capitals of tin
Where men can't walk or freely talk
And sons turn their fathers in
I stopped outside a church house
Where the citizens like to sit
They say they want the kingdom
But they don't want God in it
I went out with nothing
Nothing but the thought of you
I went wandering
I went out walking
Down that winding road
Where no one's trusting no one
And conscience a too heavy load
I went out riding
Down that old eight lane
I passed by a thousand signs
Looking for my own name
I went with nothing
But the thought you'd be there too
Looking for you
I went out there
In search of experience
To taste and to touch
And to feel as much as a man can
Before he repents
I went out searching
Looking for one good man
A spirit who would not bend or break
Who would sit at his father's right hand
I went out walking
With a bible and a gun
The word of God lay heavy on my heart
I was sure I was the one
Now Jesus, don't you wait up
Jesus, I'll be home soon
Yeah, I went out for the papers
Told her I'd be back by noon
Yeah, I left with nothing
But the thought you'd be there too
Looking for you
Yeah, I left with nothing
Nothing but the thought of you
I went wandering
Ooh-ooh-ooh
Oh-oh-ooh-ooh
