Whenever I think about post-grunge radio rock, this always seems like the seminal song. It think it would have been a hit at any moment in radio history though- and part of me wonders if the song opened the doors for Avril, Simple Plan, Sum 41, and legions of other MOR rock bands with a tinge of punk.

Love this song, especially the "PLease TELL me" part with the skronky guitar shifting gears in the background. Great wall of sunshine there. I'm not sure if it was sound or image but I would never have thought to put them with Avril - probably just timing. This sort of came up on the Blink-182 vs Green Day thread, but I really link this stuff together by time period and the general milieu of alt-rock radio - and for me this was in the thick with late grungers like Everclear and Local H. But I mean, that opening riff would have been total Sum 41 material so what do I know?

As for the band as a whole, "Miserable" was kind of a one-off joke but I remember "Zip-Loc" being okay. What became of them after that record?

one year passes...

Back when this song was popular, our shop/"technology" teacher happened to go on some rant about students making off with his precious AA batteries. For me and my buddy this instantly became

It's no surprise to me
They always steal my batteries

...which is to say, this song reminds me of good times.

I love this song even though I feel like "i'm not supposed to"

Maybe I would actually like this song if it was about the frustration of people stealing your AA batteries.

Huge motherfuckin' dud. Whiny vocals, a chorus that's somewhat catchy on first listen, but gets to be annoying on repeat listens, and a really awful guitar riff.

I lived a few minutes walk from that bar a couple of years back. ugh, given the atmosphere around that place really not surprised at all

the place actually used to be The Hub, if anyone ever made it to Fullerton in the 90s. it was kind of the cliched 90s coffeehouse, and a big Fullerton goth hangout. then at some point that Lit guy bought it and turned it into this awful 'rock-themed' bro bar filled with all these aggressive, Sugar Ray/Crazy Town-looking professional types with tribal tats and nose piercings and the women who love them. a lawyer cousin of mine dragged me there once. ah, Orange County.
