lol i'm just saying that you went from "there are boring parts" to "this is so boring" in the matter of like 90 seconds

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:47 (thirteen years ago) link

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:48 (thirteen years ago) link

what do you think burrprint 2 is?

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:49 (thirteen years ago) link

i don't get how you can praise raw street shit off of 'burrprint 3d' & then turn around and call "cowards & soldiers" or "dats my life" or "stove music" 'boring', let alone more boring than "everybody lookin"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:50 (thirteen years ago) link

it was unreleased material released as an 'official mixtape' -- i thought ferrari music was mostly odds & ends that had leaked out on the other tapes & internet compiled together by a dj

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:50 (thirteen years ago) link

all of those songs are at least as good as your beloved "frowney face"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:51 (thirteen years ago) link

i think it can be seen as a falloff year in that his output has been rel limited & inconsistent (burrprint 2hd & the appeal being the inconsistenc) but mr zone 6 & jewelry selection are totally continuing along the path of greatness of burrprint 3d & the movie 1

also as you yourself have said, he's best measured by the strength of his best individual tracks, which are just as strong and fresh & creative this year

samosa gibreel, Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:51 (thirteen years ago) link

'everybody looking' is not boring!!! its super weird & awesome & pop-y & queasy and one of his best tracks this year

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:51 (thirteen years ago) link

man i typed that up and had to click "submit post" like nine times cause you guys go so fast

not even close -- this is like saying the movie 2 >>> the movie

oh wait thats something else youve argued

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:52 (thirteen years ago) link

i have to remember that you defended the keyshia cole & bobby valentino songs on 'state vs radric davis'

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:52 (thirteen years ago) link

lol @ 'your beloved frowney face' -- his 1st verse on that hits harder than any verse off mr zone 6 bar none period -- post lyrics of a better one

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:53 (thirteen years ago) link

the first verse of "cowards & soldiers"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:54 (thirteen years ago) link

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:54 (thirteen years ago) link

this is like slam poetry now or something lol

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:55 (thirteen years ago) link

i think stuff like "rooftop" is a better meeting of writing & weirdoness than grumble mumble stuff like "poltergeist"

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:57 (thirteen years ago) link

or like, "normal" > "gross" as far as one-word repetition gucci songs go

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:57 (thirteen years ago) link

man no way does this verse stand in the same universe as 'frowney face' -- a verse w/ college puns?? vs actually emotional autobiographical raps w/ statement of purpose -- not even fair

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:57 (thirteen years ago) link

"dats my life" is as hard as anything on 'burrprint'

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:58 (thirteen years ago) link

gross has a way better beat

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:58 (thirteen years ago) link

than normal

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:58 (thirteen years ago) link

college puns are lol and creative!

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:58 (thirteen years ago) link

this is some interesting hair-splitting for someone who can't really distinguish the thousand shades of quality and nuance between most Gucci stuff and just gravitates to the obvious standouts. all i know is he hasn't really made any songs on the level of "Lemonade" or "Wasted" this year (although since "Lemonade" charted as a single this year it's definitely gonna be in my top 10)

Danble Perritration (some dude), Thursday, 4 November 2010 02:59 (thirteen years ago) link

'dats my life' is just acrobatic rapping & its cool as that but its not even close to his best song! this is what i meant when i talk about songwriting -- his choruses on zone 6, the beats, they're all so dry & flatline compared to 'gross' or 'trap talk' or certainly the best stuff on 'burrrprint.' theres no beat on 'mr zone 6' coming w/in miles of 'my shadow' and no verse is as emotionally compelling as 'frowney face'

corny. you knew that song last year

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 03:00 (thirteen years ago) link

hes def made songs better than 'wasted' this year although not nearly as many that would appeal to as wide an audience

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 03:01 (thirteen years ago) link

like you can call "dats my life" 'too writerly' or w/e too tom b snarl-rasp but like that beat + those verses are as good as shit like "excuse me" & "trap goin crazy" (which i love)

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 November 2010 03:02 (thirteen years ago) link

college puns are lol & creative but youre comparing it w/ a real talk verse that bodies the most heart-on-sleeve z-ro verses -- all the trauma beneath the surface of the straightfaced lyrics, the its like a calloused lid on some extremely powerful experiences. its biggie-level autobiography

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 03:03 (thirteen years ago) link

tom b snarl-rasp

btw did you read the vado review

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 03:03 (thirteen years ago) link

some dude have you herad 'its alive'

samosa gibreel, Thursday, 4 November 2010 03:03 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah i'm not talking about strictly about song quality but about memorable songs that feel like hits (beyond like Trey Songz sings on this so radio plays it etc.). although i guess i'm one of the only people here that's always really liked "Makin Love To The Money". and i always do year-end singles lists based on when a song was a hit, doesn't matter if i had an album it was on the previous year, don't know what's corny about that.

its alive is my favorite verse of his this year -- incredible stuff. i also think that drumma boy track that just got a video is pretty epically great

i like makin love to the money now btw

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 03:04 (thirteen years ago) link

i mean irl -- the song is cool too

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 03:04 (thirteen years ago) link

y'know i'm not sure if i have heard "It's Alive" -- nobody made The Appeal sound too erm appealing but i guess that is one song people recommend from it

Danble Perritration (some dude), Thursday, 4 November 2010 03:04 (thirteen years ago) link

there are some totally dope beats on 'jewelery selection' like "first song back" & "electricity" but the "gross" beat is incredibly generic

i dunno it seems goofy -- like you dont trust your own ears & need them verified by popular consensus or something -- lemonade was in my top ten last year so

man couldnt disagree more -- the strings & effects are coca coca level dark

deej, Thursday, 4 November 2010 03:06 (thirteen years ago) link

stuff on the appeal that's as good as anything gucci has ever done -- "what's it gonna be", "it's alive"

it's 'popism' not insecurity -- i don't put album cuts on singles lists as a protest of indie fuxx who fill their P&J ballots with non-hits, i stick to singles, and a lot of songs don't become hits until the year after they appear on an album.

Danble Perritration (some dude), Thursday, 4 November 2010 03:08 (thirteen years ago) link

the second level of stuff is like: "trap talk", "party animal" (pretty dope "wasted" rip off if you ask me), "odog" (at least until wyclef takes over the last three minutes), "dollar sign"
