Wow, that was quick.

21.

OK, this one might be difficult. Maybe not. Hint: most of these sleeves have quite dramatic color schemes to begin with.

Is #11 JAMC?

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 12:17 (fifteen years ago) link

Good call. I was trying to figure that one out (and I thought about doing JAMC myself lol). I can't confirm it, but I would stake absurd amounts of money on your answer being correct.

The Most Photographed Barn on the Internet (Pillbox), Wednesday, 26 November 2008 12:20 (fifteen years ago) link

JAMC yes!! Well done.

anatol_merklich, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 12:31 (fifteen years ago) link

Ah, I think there's a good chance #20 is Stereolab, no?

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 12:41 (fifteen years ago) link

Huh?

Duane Barry, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 12:44 (fifteen years ago) link

YEs! The pics given for Avalon looked just like the cover too.

Number 9 again, including the missing ones. Have swapped #5 but in all honesty none of the options for 5 much look like the cover.

Beautiful South?

Peter "One Dart" Manley (The stickman from the hilarious 'xkcd' comics), Wednesday, 26 November 2008 16:42 (fifteen years ago) link

No, first album is from 1979 and the last album is from 2001.

Billy Dods, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 16:43 (fifteen years ago) link

gawd this #9 is bugging the FUCK out of me! I soooo know those abstract blobs....

Kevin John Bozelka, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 16:47 (fifteen years ago) link

Or blobby hearts...

Kevin John Bozelka, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 16:48 (fifteen years ago) link

#5 (the garish blobs) of that sequence is from 1984.

113 - Sault?

Hans Holbein (Chinchilla Volapük), Sunday, 17 January 2021 08:17 (three years ago) link

Yes :)

XP: I'm sure there are a multitude of more elegant ways but I've just cut and pasted bits and pieces in MS Paint myself.

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Sunday, 17 January 2021 09:20 (three years ago) link

Oh man, I wonder how the images in the 'album covers rendered in MS Paint from memory' thread have held up over the long years.

Oh man, I wonder how the images in the 'album covers rendered in MS Paint from memory' thread have held up over the long years.

― Maresn3st

Not entirely well, it seems.

BUT, it turns out I loved these threads so much (even if people blatantly started ignoring the "from memory" bit) that I saved the first two threads, images and all! And in the same folder, it appears I also saved the "Photoshop/MS Paint Nike and other evil corporations ruining famous album covers". Wonder if there is a sensible way of sharing here on board, if there is interest?

anatol_merklich, Monday, 18 January 2021 10:48 (three years ago) link

I totally ignored the 'from memory' bit, ashamed to say.

Maresn3st, Monday, 18 January 2021 10:52 (three years ago) link

#114

No idea how hard this is. A few pics are ridiculously OTM thematically, as well as chromatically.

Jim O'Rourke?

alpine static, Tuesday, 19 January 2021 08:22 (three years ago) link

^ I can totally see how that could work! But no.

Incidentally, the 5th item is not a 'proper' LP, but some issues were vaguely LP-length.

Dinosaur Jr?

willem, Tuesday, 19 January 2021 08:45 (three years ago) link

Correct!
