Damn, someone beat me to Oscar Gamble...I know about Doc, but where do you get some of whatever Grimsley was flying on?

We've gone from eloquent portraiture of Mathewson, Paige, and DiMaggio to Bad '70s Hairapalooza...

I HATE Brandon Arroyo's leg kick.

I really get a kick looking at 70s baseball players. I love a diverse thread

Let's hit the '80s/'90s then:

I was just kidding--I worship '70s baseball. I still count it as baseball's greatest decade, from start to finish.

Speaking of which, another SI cover I always loved:

They should revisit it at some point--have, say, Halladay and Hernandez recreate the exact same shot.

Lee Richmond pic is hilarious. That guy looks like he should be working at some vegan co-op, riding a fixie.

I haven't looked at this thread in a while.

One thing about the Dick Allen photo above, the one where he's smoking and juggling three baseballs: that was used for the cover of Sports Illustrated. I can't remember if it was '72, heading into his near-Triple Crown year, or '73, right after. Pretty sure such a cover shot would be verboten today; there's lots of things the player could be doing that wouldn't have been okay then, but it's the other way around when it comes to juggling baseballs...I mean, smoking.
