"rollin" w/ waka on the gunplay tape is a classic. gunplay is cool imo, my faith in gun sounds rap 2010 being bolstered already

i love this gunplay line (via RNT duh)
“Inside I’m Sufferin’/Outside I’m Stuntin’/ I’m Bout Mines I’m Thumpin Till God Bring Out The Trumpets/ Barack Just A Puppet But No One Listens To Junkies”

i've actually heard the Das Racist mixtape and he's the one song from it that a goon might like

I'm just going to go ahead and use the phrase "Gunplay (feat. Gunplay)" so it's out of my system.

hey guys, quick poll : favorite max b mixtape ?
― sisilafami, Tuesday, 4 January 2011 23:19 (thirteen years ago) link
i've only heard one, gaine greene, which deej recommended to me and i dig it...very sleazy charm!
he's also a deceptively good rapper...he's so slurry and lazy sounding that it disguises that he's got some really good rhyme patterns and lyrics
― the medina green preservation society (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 4 January 2011 23:23 (thirteen years ago) link
xxp the mixtape is not that great so don't worry about him becoming like some sort of '11 swag cru cause celebre. and that song was great
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Tuesday, 4 January 2011 23:23 (thirteen years ago) link
gain greene is the one ive been coming too a lotalso love quarantine
coke wave is a 'classic' altho its a bit inconsistent for me. does have 'i warned u' though

basically my last year has been jacka -> gucci -> max b -> husalah -> currensy -> waka
in order of listening frequency. rap rules man

just need to lol again at whiney's whole 'ethan invented hating nerd rap' thing -- is he guilty for yelawolf hating on it too? how influential do u guys think ethan really is? does hipster love of jeezy all come back to ground zero ilx nate patrin disses? the internet must know whiney's thoughts
― ich bin ein ilxor (deej), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 00:58 (thirteen years ago) link
yelawolf didn't hate on it, iirc he just said it's something to move past
― zvookster, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 01:00 (thirteen years ago) link
sounded a bit nervous that ethan would hate on him tbh
i just said he was the most vocal hater of it on ILX, you dumb dickbag
― darwin deej (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 01:01 (thirteen years ago) link
ethan cast a weird "LOL you like cannibal ox" pall on this whole board and now i'm always extra cautious when posting this shit
― darwin deej (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 01:02 (thirteen years ago) link
. im jus sayin, kelefa sanneh was trashing sage francis in the nytimes and setting the seeds for jay-z's critical reevaluation. this was a general cultural thing, ethan was just good at zingin. doesnt mean he wasnt right about the shittiness of a lot of nerd rap & he def wasnt the only one to notice
remember those ellis posts where he came back & accused ethan of biting hating on nerd rap from him? it was like whiney & contenderizer discussing hipsters, but different
― ich bin ein ilxor (deej), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 01:03 (thirteen years ago) link
yeah dude i think crediting ethan w/ that is nonsense too
well, again, you were posting here before i was, so whatever. I'm glad we can post nerd-rap now

that's what i was thinking, i'm just lolling at my mental image of T being all like "what the fuck is this white boy on about i thought we were gonna talk super smash brothers and shit and this motherfucker wanna know what Brian Coleman is really like"
― predeep natsvitika (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 6 January 2011 22:54 (thirteen years ago) link
haha nah i'm just gonna keep it short and sweet, dudes don't usually want to talk long (except jimmy fallon who i must say was prolly one of the absolute sweetest dudes)...i think at the end i'm just gonna say that yr music meant a lot to me growing up esp. power and freedom of speech and o.g. and thank you sir, etc
― lemmy ruxpin (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 6 January 2011 22:57 (thirteen years ago) link
jimmy fallon IS a nice guy isn't he? I mean i don't think he's funny or talented exactly but he's such a fucking nice guy!
― predeep natsvitika (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 6 January 2011 22:59 (thirteen years ago) link
yeah like i had an appointment for a phone interview and he called me! like no the usual PR person calling like "oh we're looking for so and so, he should be here in a minute i'm going to put you on conference"...i just picked up and he was like "oh, hey, um, hey matt? this is jimmy fallon"
at the end, he even recorded a message to my wife who really like him a lot for me that i turned into an mp3 for her, just yeah like incredibly nice and genuine...

i was at an event a few years ago where T was the keynote speaker and he was really funny and honest, seemed pretty approachable to the people that wanted to talk to him afterwards
