also, like every Lex Luger song exists in this 70-72 bpm clusterfuck on my computer, lol

it would be interesting to kind of figure out what old rap songs still work in clubs and if there's some connection to whether the production style is at all similar to modern stuff

some dude, Saturday, 15 January 2011 16:29 (thirteen years ago) link

i had no fucking idea Lex was only 19

strawberry shartcake (San Te), Saturday, 15 January 2011 16:32 (thirteen years ago) link

was a cool interview with him in XXL where he indirectly suggested the reason his beats 'all sound the same' is cuz the rappers just choose the ones that sound like BMF and MC Hammer.

strawberry shartcake (San Te), Saturday, 15 January 2011 16:33 (thirteen years ago) link

which also included an eyerolling quote from Waka where he says he is not a lyrical rapper because he is a Southern rapper. (mutually exclusive? nah)

strawberry shartcake (San Te), Saturday, 15 January 2011 16:33 (thirteen years ago) link

xpost i mean, i know like "It Takes Two" and "Children's Story" and "The Choice Is Yours (Revisited)" still work and shit, but if i'm gonna go full-on wedding dj, i might as well just put "Billie Jean" on an ipod and shoot myself in the mouth.

All night dude with booze-breath kept coming up to me like "You know would get this crowd wet? Is if you played "north carolina, take your shirt of and spin it like a helicopter"

I Lost A COGHdrop in His Pato (Whiney G. Weingarten), Saturday, 15 January 2011 16:36 (thirteen years ago) link

I would dance to Children's Story! not Petey Pablo tho

pretty much every producer ever has that gripe/defense, but they don't STOP making beats that sound like their signature hit and offering them to artists along with their attempts at more creative or varied sounds

some dude, Saturday, 15 January 2011 16:36 (thirteen years ago) link

true, though I think that's cuz he wants to close the sale. he claims he sent over 40 to Rick Ross.

strawberry shartcake (San Te), Saturday, 15 January 2011 16:39 (thirteen years ago) link

that's what i mean. guys like Bangladesh kinda try to have their cake and eat it too by complaining that every artist wants an "A Milli" beat and pointing out that they're capable of something different, but still go ahead and provide what people want from them to keep their career going.

some dude, Saturday, 15 January 2011 16:47 (thirteen years ago) link

is this baiting, really? its just terrible logic, more

wasn't baiting you (i have far better things to do), just pointing out the terrible logic(!) behind yr resolution

ilxor, Saturday, 15 January 2011 17:48 (thirteen years ago) link

ilxor, Saturday, 15 January 2011 17:48 (thirteen years ago) link

*gets the power* (deej), Saturday, 15 January 2011 20:47 (thirteen years ago) link

*gets the power* (deej), Saturday, 15 January 2011 20:48 (thirteen years ago) link

guys this is really depressing. its an actual total fall-off

*gets the power* (deej), Saturday, 15 January 2011 20:55 (thirteen years ago) link

ilxor=burt_stanton

strawberry shartcake (San Te), Saturday, 15 January 2011 21:53 (thirteen years ago) link

what is the point of ilxor again?

J0rdan S., Saturday, 15 January 2011 22:23 (thirteen years ago) link

most of this stuff leaked over the past month or so

J0rdan S., Saturday, 15 January 2011 22:24 (thirteen years ago) link

a bunch of it did, and the last two tracks were on jewelry selection, but there are some new ones, & all bunched together this stuff sounds ... bad.

*gets the power* (deej), Saturday, 15 January 2011 22:27 (thirteen years ago) link

its something thats hard to evaluate on a song by song basis cuz he switches up his flow so it could be like 'oh hes just going for a whisper flow here' or whatever but compiled like this its ... ugh

*gets the power* (deej), Saturday, 15 January 2011 22:28 (thirteen years ago) link

jack boyz is great, that beat bangs seriously

sisilafami, Saturday, 15 January 2011 22:29 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah this tape is awful basically

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Saturday, 15 January 2011 23:57 (thirteen years ago) link

I think it's pretty good tbh -- minor key, creepy brick squad raps -- I'm down

J0rdan S., Sunday, 16 January 2011 01:06 (thirteen years ago) link

i think gucci sounds worse than everyone else on it tho

*gets the power* (deej), Sunday, 16 January 2011 09:30 (thirteen years ago) link

well except maybe dude w/ the funyun rhyme

*gets the power* (deej), Sunday, 16 January 2011 09:30 (thirteen years ago) link

lol @ 160 kbps. why do we even bother with this shit?

domo genesis p-orridge (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 16 January 2011 15:50 (thirteen years ago) link

because some of us don't know how to check the kbps on a file, have never done a side-by-side comparison with a higher quality file to see how much we'd be able to tell the difference, and ultimately don't give a shit since we still listen to music all the time on other relatively low quality formats like car radios, TV speakers and cassette decks?

some dude, Sunday, 16 January 2011 15:57 (thirteen years ago) link

if you can't immediately tell the difference between like Trunk Musik and Trunk Musik 0-60 without even doing some dipshit audioturd "side-by-side comparison," your ears don't work. But then again, you rep for Train and B.o.B., so I figured that's pretty much the case anyway

absolutely, but it didn't stop me from listening to TM when it came out before TM 0-60 and enjoy the hell out of it.

sisilafami, Sunday, 16 January 2011 16:13 (thirteen years ago) link

if anything, 160 kbps probably does a favor to shitty vocals.

ilxor, Sunday, 16 January 2011 16:19 (thirteen years ago) link

I think this new one is no better than okay. Gucci sounds way less engaged and vital in comparison to Mr Zone 6, which was what, 8 months ago?

if you're gonna go ad hominem all the damn time, at least use things that make some kind of contextual sense. do i go DURR DURR GREEN DAY ROOLZ every time you disagree with me about rap? grow the fuck up.

some dude, Sunday, 16 January 2011 16:27 (thirteen years ago) link

that B.o.B song about airplanes >>>>>>>>> anything Green Day has ever done or will do

no regrets

ilxor, Sunday, 16 January 2011 16:38 (thirteen years ago) link

way to miss the point, numbnuts

some dude, Sunday, 16 January 2011 16:41 (thirteen years ago) link

i totally get yr point to whiney, but i see no need to say "YEAH! some dude's right, back off w/ the randomly fired shots at his tastes that don't make any sense in context!!"

ilxor, Sunday, 16 January 2011 16:43 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah. anyway "Airplanes" wasn't the song I repped for.

some dude, Sunday, 16 January 2011 16:50 (thirteen years ago) link

ilxor and some dude in different tastes shockah

ilxor, Sunday, 16 January 2011 17:11 (thirteen years ago) link

more like "some dude wondering why ilxor posted a complete non-sequitur" shockah

The synchronicity of the dj dinero yelling "De niro" over it is delicious
