surprised by how big it got, sure -- wasnt expecting top 5 in this climate for rap -- but its further proof that there are more marketing/access issues w/ rap not charting than aesthetic ones imo

I'm getting this vibe from the Fiend tape, and definitely from "Marcberg" and "Everything's Berri." Maybe the Pilot Talk albums--but not quite. Precursors might be the GZA/Muggs Grandmasters project and Prodigy's "Return of the Mac."

prodigy's feels diff to me cuz alchemist is a lil too showy to be consider 'low key', and stuff like 'mac 10 handle' is a classic break, 'new york shit' was out & out extroverted, but yeah otherwise im w/ you that this is an interesting direction / grouping for these artists ...
