I liked the time machine/George Washington sketch, which was probably the one time Brand's yelling was used to great effect.

I thought Weekend Update was especially solid this week, and the "British Movie" digital short was also pretty funny.

British Movie would have been funnier if they hadn't overplayed it. Those movies are ripe for mockery without making the "I can't understand what they are saying" over and over again.

This was better than it could've been. I feel like the audience was kind of stingy with laughs.

only watched half of it so far but not bad! Miley's not doing too much. Fred's puerto rican(dominican?) stand-up routine killed me.

I've never seen Hannah Montana but I enjoyed this episode a lot. I feel Paul Brittain is getting more awkward with each sketch he's in.

This has got to be one of the best opening monologues I've ever seen.

His last one was hilarious too. I have to admit to thinking last week's Miley episode was generally funnier though, despite the less funny host.

The On Demand version fades out early. Did he play the piano again?

Yes. Definitely before the dress.

Not sure why he had a mohawk at the end either.

He took off his clothes and was wearing a Little Orphan Annie dress and he sang Tomorrow while showing funny comments on a giant pad.

The mohawk thing was a total joke. Last time he was on, he shaved his beard 3/4 of the way through. This time he just came on at the end with the mohawk and made a joke about the Mr. T skit being cut.

yeah the monologue was excellent - loved that moment when he's in the Annie dress where he stops and flashes his underpants

tbh I am a little impressed that this bland an episode came in April! Usually they start losing it in January.

I just don't get these shows where Elton John is the host but Tom Hanks is hanging around, killing it.

Like dan aykroyd playing bob dole and 1990s Tom Snyder even though he wasn't the real host.

Why did Carmelo even bother to show up.

iirc Aykroyd had a weird superstition about not hosting SNL for years and years and would only do little cameo appearances until finally hosting in like 2003

OK finally watching the episode -- you guys were way too rough on Elton imo, the monologue and the Knights of the Realm sketch were lol

when Will Forte showed up for the ESPN sketch, I wonder what percentage of the audience thought "hey it's former cast member Will Forte returning to reprise one of his running characters" and what percentage never even registered that he hasn't been on the show this season. when I watch the show on demand, NBC's parent company Xfinity still lists "Will Forte, (host name)" as the 2 stars of the show on the menu anytime I pull up a new episode.
