ah okay. yeah i don't mind the father.
― scott seward, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 23:51 (thirteen years ago) link
but he's not as good as redneck dad on cougar town. love him.
i'm fine w/ the lead dude on raising hope, he's got a little of that "bland guy who's only at the center of things to bounce off of funnier characters" sitcom protagonist archetype going on but i think he hits the right notes more often than not.

Dad on Cougar Town and dad on Raising Hope were both on John from Cincinnati (which most people seemed to hate, but I liked).

Magnitude is the best character.
Also awww CIA girl with a crush. I would love to see Abed and her hook up, even if that would never happen ever.

Just got to watch it. Agree the notches gag was ALL TIME.
I think I recognize the Secret Service lady from something, but it's hard to tell with her sunglasses on.
Tired of Magnitude already.

Magnitude absolutely cries out for his own 70s-style iron-on glitter t-shirt (photo of 'tude with "Pop Pop!" written in bubbly, squiggly 70s font underneath).

Oh anyway, blunt crabby newbie/Secret Service lady is actually Eliza Coupe. Just saw she's going to be on that ABC show Happy Endings with ex-SNL'er Casey Wilson, Elisha Cuthbert and Damon Wayans Jr...yet another in a seemingly endless flood of single-camera multi-relationship sitcoms, but I'll give it a whirl on the cast alone.
― Johnny Fever, Saturday, 26 February 2011 14:19 (thirteen years ago) link

― Aerosol, Tuesday, 1 March 2011 21:24 (thirteen years ago) link
Yeah, I noticed this. I was kind of hoping this did mean there would be no attempt at recapturing the magic of that episode, because there's no way it will be as funny. Just like another D&D episode wouldn't ever be as funny, or another Levar Burton episode. I really wanted them to not fall back on stuff already.

people are speculating that the "western-themed" end of school picnic mentioned in the news crawl might be the real setting for the finale.
― accredited butter grader and dairy technologist (reddening), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 22:56 (thirteen years ago) link
i can't believe no-one has mentioned the real world tape.
getting lost guy goes with "air vent monster" on the ticker, so a lost parody is my guess for the finale.
prof slater still missing also one of the ticker news items - what happened? did i miss that episode?
― Samuel (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 1 March 2011 23:53 (thirteen years ago) link
no, she just stopped being in the show. i think that's the joke.
― Mordy, Tuesday, 1 March 2011 23:54 (thirteen years ago) link
Surely "air vent monster" = Annie's Boobs?
― "I think I'm falling in love!" (R Baez), Wednesday, 2 March 2011 00:20 (thirteen years ago) link
that will never stop being funny
― goth barbershop quartet (DJP), Wednesday, 2 March 2011 00:23 (thirteen years ago) link
Yeah, Annie's Boobs is the air vent monster.
Using Josh whatshisface in an actual LOST parody/nod is a little too on the nose for Community imo. They might hint at it (like they did with the Cosby sweater to Malcolm Jamal Warner), but I don't think they'd base a major plot point around it.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 2 March 2011 00:24 (thirteen years ago) link
That ticker is the nifty infodump for the second half of the season, just like Abed's Robocop POV was in the first half.
