Plies is kind of awesome for all the crazy shit he says, but that doesn't add up to me wanting to listen to him.

i wonder what the philosophy is behind releasing this album 6 months after his last one...I mean that's gotta be the quickest turnaround between 2 major unrelated releases by a popular rapper since, what, the first 2 DMX albums?

Fourth studio album

In an interview with Plies and according to Slip-N-Slide records, the rapper announced that he has completed a fourth album already. Tentatively, he plans to release it in April or May of 2009, but states that the exact date will depend on how much success his third album has. The title of the album is still unknown, but Plies says he is deciding between 3 different options and will solidify it by Thanksgiving weekend.[8][9]

I have a feeling there's a certain desire to strike while the iron is hot, which is probably smart on his part, considering he isn't someone I can see sustaining much of a career.

btw wtf is going on w/ him? by my count, he's had beats this year on the ross album, the webbie album and now plies?

hes using the trademark mannie snares & mannie drums but the beat is crazy to me -- obv its w/in the mannie formula but he did a nice job structuring it, end result is more sui generis than you would expect

Mannie supposedly signed a label deal w/ Def Jam i think around the time of "Big Shit Poppin'" and talked about having him do tons of beats for all their Southern artists, then he just kinda disappeared and has only had like 5 album tracks come out in the past year.

oj da juiceman is kind of an awful rapper but i find his loopy sing-song flow basically irresistible. he's like the rapping version of hydraulics: endlessly repetitive but almost hypnotizing. also, his ad-lib game is next-stratosphere. he sounds like... i think chappelle doing rick james but i'd also accept the taco bell chihuahua or an 8 year old kid who ate 100 pixie stix and was then chipmunked

srsly i think this mixtape is great but i can't help but feel like dj drama is testing the waters to see how little rapping rappers need to do until we stop caring

btw i think drumma boy's whiny synth noise is starting to haunt my inner thoughts

OJ's really high pitched AY!s makes jeezy's and gucci's adlibs seem quaint

ummm the wilt chamberlain series has good stuff on it, but the gangsta grillz is probably the most consistent. off the top of my head i would check for "shopping spree"/"gucci bandana"/"bands" (off the soulja boy mixtape), "nickelodeon" and "light show". also got good stuff on bigger than the mayor but i guess you've heard that

gucci nearly reached wayne territories of shitty bootleg tapes so it's hard to tell what's good/new
