D-40 who did you used to post as, i wanna know who i'm being scolded by

lol it's deej, quite obv

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2011 02:33 (thirteen years ago) link

b/w that song & the joint with dro i think i've been convinced into giving the forthcoming travis barker album an hour of my time

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2011 02:34 (thirteen years ago) link

also yela's voice sounds weird on that song in a cool way

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2011 02:37 (thirteen years ago) link

haha it genuinely didn't occur to me that it could be deej, thought all that retiring display name business was nonsense

i'm not gonna tell you not to listen to the Barker lp because hey Blink 182 stans unite but it gets pretty smh (and Dro isn't on it)

some dude, Saturday, 19 March 2011 02:39 (thirteen years ago) link

good lookin out

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2011 02:41 (thirteen years ago) link

the production on this soulja boy tape is great all around

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2011 02:54 (thirteen years ago) link

how are the vocals though, is he still groaning arrhythmically or was that just a very long phase?

some dude, Saturday, 19 March 2011 02:57 (thirteen years ago) link

were there 2 or 3 jams on the travis barker ... i checked some stuff @ digital dripped and some seemed potentially interesting altho i didnt come back to them

D-40, Saturday, 19 March 2011 02:58 (thirteen years ago) link

vocals on the two soulja boy tracks ive heard were all over the place & weird like hes trying too hard to sound affectd or something

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2011 06:57 (thirteen years ago) link

also yes he's named "Yung Chris"

J0rdan S., Saturday, 19 March 2011 06:59 (thirteen years ago) link

latest soulja boy mixtape is so so. I prefer the low key productions a la pretty boy swag, drums and bass (1UP, The First, Stacks on Deck), I'm thinking the whole time why he doesn't come with a tape in that vein.

anyone wanna tell me if the pusha t mixtape is worth listening to

surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Monday, 21 March 2011 18:57 (thirteen years ago) link

i thought we all gave up on clipse mixtapes two years ago

blingee cummings (J0rdan S.), Monday, 21 March 2011 19:03 (thirteen years ago) link

lol you listened to Road to Till the Casket Drops

some dude, Monday, 21 March 2011 19:05 (thirteen years ago) link

the last one i listened to was the one for their clothing line

blingee cummings (J0rdan S.), Monday, 21 March 2011 19:06 (thirteen years ago) link

that's what i just referred to -- stanning for any clipse mixtape material is very subtly different shades of herbishness imo

some dude, Monday, 21 March 2011 19:09 (thirteen years ago) link

are you guys like "well since he's putting out two albums maybe we should talk about it on two separate threads"

blingee cummings (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 22 March 2011 04:07 (thirteen years ago) link

deej listens to the new baby bash:

1) zzz ('intro')
2) zzz ('swanananana') generic 00s beat w/ sirens & lil jon synths, generic 'foreign' vocal hook
3) zzz ('go girl') feat e-40
4) ('hit me (bbm me)')ok this is kind of lol, quirky pop bullshit best track so far
5) zzz ('kick rocks') fake dr dre
6) ('body moves slow') not good but kinda weird, feat. krizz kaliko & paul wall, i dunno, kinda random & interesting i guess but not something ill bump again
7) zzz ('dont mess with texas') i dont know enough spm to know if this is an old verse, but if not, wtf, how is he out of jail? and what does baby beesh have to do w/ texas.
8) zzz ('woyyoy') another fake dre beat, Jacka does the hook -- Dre should have used him for hooks on detox. as usual w/ jacka features his verse is all i like about the track & its not even that good
9) ('best in the bedroom') this song is totally lol, cant hate on this really, fun corny baby bash music, beat still feels cheap (as all of these do) but they do some creative stuff w/ some cheap sounds
10) ('good for the money') features lloyd, his hook is pretty solid, dont like the AYYYY the-dream style part of it tho. this is barely a rap song
11) zzz ('roller coaster ride') fake atl bass track, not v good
12) ('head hunter') Z-Ro feature, sounds like a z-ro beat. like most of the songs on this lp its about boning. nice in theory, if you dont step back & think about it, but i cant imagine listening to this again.
13) zzz ('hope i dont violate') another fake dre beat that sounds like a game lp reject
14) ('buttakup') if you are cool with cheesy baby bash songs (which the best ones are) then this is cool
15) ('fantasy girl') ditto 14
16) ('buttakup remix') did you say you wanted to hear chalie boy rapping over 'buttakup'? yes? here you are
17) ('go girl (dance remix)') this is actually much better than the original

overall, 5/10

D-40, Tuesday, 22 March 2011 04:18 (thirteen years ago) link

this is basically R&B/pop rap detritus from the dre/lil jon soundscape era. sounds pretty dated & only hits when it goes for the pop jugular imo
