Bangelo, Wednesday, 20 April 2011 19:09 (thirteen years ago) link

Annnnyyywaayy don't remember if this was the thread or not but there's a new Montée record out. Seems to be pretty hard to get outside of the Nordic territories right now tho

Bangelo, Wednesday, 20 April 2011 19:12 (thirteen years ago) link

Cool, the first one still gets a regular airing.

No idea how much NOK 33 is in real money.

groovypanda, Wednesday, 20 April 2011 19:47 (thirteen years ago) link

Thanks, man. I don't know either, but after hearing a few of the tracks I think it might be too much for me :(

Deverly (Bangelo), Friday, 22 April 2011 21:17 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah i d/l'd that and was like uhhh yeah dont think it fits this thread

gr8080, Friday, 22 April 2011 21:43 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah, bummer. The first one does though and is absolutely worth the time

Deverly (Bangelo), Friday, 22 April 2011 22:48 (thirteen years ago) link

fuuuck what version of naive melody is that

― gr8080, Saturday, 16 April 2011 03:33

I'd love to know that too. Psychemagik have actually done an edit of that song but it's not that edit in the mix.

fuck i finally found it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLSPzRDXtWg

it was actually commissioned by an "alt country" blog for their valentines day mixtape!!?!

http://whenyouawake.com/2011/02/14/music-for-the-morning-after-an-exclusive-valentines-mixtape-from-us-to-you/

loling at the tremendous feeling of self-satisfaction i have after literally spending hours off and on this week trying to figure it out

gr8080, Saturday, 23 April 2011 23:57 (thirteen years ago) link

haha, i searched for "naive melody" on discogs and got nothing, figures

boehner und der club of gore (donna rouge), Sunday, 24 April 2011 00:25 (thirteen years ago) link

bro I spent an hour listening to anything titled "this must be the place" or "naive melody" on soundcloud to no avail

Thanks for finding that song gr8, I love it!

JacobSanders, Sunday, 24 April 2011 19:42 (thirteen years ago) link

i actually prefer the psychemagik edit (http://soundcloud.com/esp-institute/ariel-pinkround-round)to that version, hard to beat that children's choir breakdown in the middle imo. also i have a p large aversion to slow sad covers of 80s tunes

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Sunday, 24 April 2011 20:17 (thirteen years ago) link

oh woops, i linked to the wrong thing ha... http://soundcloud.com/psychemagik/this-must-be-the-place-psychemagik-naive-edit

that stallions remix of ariel pink is p applicable to this thread too tho

where can i get/purchase a copy of that mp3!?

I'm loving it. A lot of it reminds me of Fontan's Neanderthaler but guess that's just the electric guitar set against a balearic backdrop.

Nice one, cheers. I've listened to loads of covers in the past few weeks too but hadn't found it.

If you can now track down the tune at 41 minutes that would be great ;)

Just thought I'd post here for the first time in a year to plug this:

Which you can hear and purchase here

Personal involvement alert. I did the artwork. But these dudes are solid occasional ILX lurkers who hang with some serious ILX folk and deserve your attention.

the other new claremont release (besides almunia) looks pretty good too - torn sail - birds 12 inch . i want to hear more than a sample but the tiago remix seems like it could be epic

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 26 April 2011 19:10 (thirteen years ago) link

I was actually listening to that Torn Birds on Youtube as i was reading this thread. It's a great track:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0UpGDQxqB8

I've got partial tracklistings for some of those mixes, including most of the tracks on the Jan Hammered ones if you want. The Cosmic Jane one is brilliant too.

Prins Thomas also has a new downtempo mix/comp that LN-CC was selling a month or two ago called cosmanova IV (apparently you can DL cosmanova II on the web, it's from a couple years ago)... totally balearic

Another super Balearic mix:

Moonboots - Atmospheric Conditions

http://noncollective.com/wp-content/MP3/atmospheric.mp3

groovypanda, Tuesday, 24 May 2011 13:43 (twelve years ago) link

i'm still loving that psychemagik mix too, but it inspired me to seek out their edit of that talking heads song and tbh i've been listening to that a LOT more

and i've been impressed with moonboots mixes in the past, so i'll definitely give that one a dl

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 24 May 2011 15:30 (twelve years ago) link

their edit of naive melody is terrific!

listening to this moonboots mix right now and enjoying it

ban drake (the rapper) (max), Tuesday, 24 May 2011 15:35 (twelve years ago) link

nice stuff here, thanks guys.

Suggest Banter (Local Garda), Tuesday, 24 May 2011 15:37 (twelve years ago) link

I think that balearic jam on the Psychemagik mix is Chris Fantasy's Fighting The Wind which is quite old and super rare.

It's on the Moonboots mix too.

groovypanda, Tuesday, 24 May 2011 16:09 (twelve years ago) link

That's the 40.39 one then? Good work groovypanda. BTW I see that Psychemagik is playing at Horse & Groom this Friday.

This remake of Paula Cole's "Feelin' Love" is doing a lot for me, but I was always a fan of the original anyway.
