a cat called mouse would be appropriate for a kitten.

Maybe dude just has an alarm clock that makes an orgasm noise. Like a novelty alarm clock. Otherwise, he is very regular.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 16:42 (seventeen years ago) link

Maybe the rest of his day/evening is very busy.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 16:44 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't know if I could tolerate hearing a neighbor orgasm regularly. On Sunday the guy on the second floor played the Whitney Houstion version of "I Will Always Love You" about 6 times in a row, and that was enough to make me want to kill.

and IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIII WILL ALLLLWAAAYS LOOVE YOUUUUUUUUUoOoOoOoOhhhhhhh

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 16:54 (seventeen years ago) link

we used to have a downstairs neighbor who would regularly bring home dudes, smoke a ton of pot (to the point where we were pretty much hotboxing in our apartment), then leave smooth jazz records on repeat all night with the volume turned way up. she routinely dated gang-bangers so i never complained or stomped on the floor or anything. the only thing i could hope for is that one of her kids would wake up and start screaming because that was the only time she'd turn the damn thing off.

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 16:58 (seventeen years ago) link

my downstairs neighbor makes absolutely zero noise. it is impossible to listen to music in my apt.

deej.. (deej..), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Dan, you know your neighbor must have been having a major breakdown.

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Or dresses up in ladies underwear and lip-syncs in front of a mirror.

Eazy (Eazy), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:04 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't know what the hell he was up to. He's a quiet guy, usually. His cats running back and forth is pretty much the only noise we hear from up there. I think he's had a party like one time in a year. I decided that either his boyfriend broke up with him or he must be sampling the song or something, why else would you listen to it that many times?

Xpost hahahah EZ

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:06 (seventeen years ago) link

My old roommates Bob and Jamie, neither of whom were in any way romantically involved with me, and I used to randomly sing that song to each other from opposite ends of the house and it was extra funny when it would make the dog howl, which was often.

The last two nights our upstairs neighbor has been running a fan, which she sits directly on her wooden bedroom floor, until about four AM. Through the magic of physics, this turns our entire bedroom into like a giant speaker so it's like sleeping in the grinding, humming, vibrating trunk of a moving car that needs a tune up. HOWEVER I ran into her on as we were leaving the building this morning and she kindly agreed to put the fan on a chair from here on out. She is also an 8th grade special ed teacher in Logan's Square, which means that she has to be pretty awesome because, seriously? No thanks.

I just rediscovered a love of mac n cheese. Actually, I hated it growing up, so I'm just discovering it for the first time now. We made it last night for the first time. MIAM! I mention it because lunch is in 15 minutes and I brought leftovers. I also mention it because I'm sure you all care.

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:48 (seventeen years ago) link

How could you have hated mac & cheese as a kid??

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:49 (seventeen years ago) link

i didn't dig it either. i totally do now though.

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:50 (seventeen years ago) link

It's slimy and makes a gross sound when you stir it up.

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:51 (seventeen years ago) link

When I was growing up, we always had fish sticks with our mac-and-cheese for some reason.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:54 (seventeen years ago) link

Mac is only good home-made. Or Annie's, if you add enough milk and extra cheese to it.

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:55 (seventeen years ago) link

I never have mac-and-cheese at home anymore, because I never have cow's milk on hand.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, we just got the macaroni noodles, milk & cheese... I suggested we stop off somewhere like Whole Foods or TJ's and try to get a healthier version and Nick laughed at me, saying there's no such thing as healthy mac n cheese.

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:58 (seventeen years ago) link

We have milk on hand for baking and coffee.

I guess you mean you have soymilk at home or no milk, John?

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 17:59 (seventeen years ago) link

Tigermilk?

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 18:00 (seventeen years ago) link

i have no milk on hand usually. plenty of half and half but no milk.

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 18:00 (seventeen years ago) link

I go through about a gallon and a half of milk a week. I'm concerned about the hormones.

GEAUX BEARS. (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 18:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Annie's is teh bomb, I started buying those little "Milk Chug" containers because it's the only thing I want to use it for.

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 18:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, Jordan, please give the cat the title (?) of Comrade!

GEAUX BEARS. (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 18:04 (seventeen years ago) link

I always have milk for tea/coffee/cooking/drinking purposes. Can live without it in tea, but not in coffee, and what about with brownies?? A must-have. :)

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 18:04 (seventeen years ago) link

and what about with brownies?? A must-have. :)

oh man, otm. it's like a hotdog without a bun otherwise.

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 18:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Dan: you mean "Annie's is teh bomb"?
me: yeh

Dan: hippy organic natural etc mac & cheese
me: oh!!!
Dan: http://www.annies.com/
me: i COMPLETELY misread that, and i reread it 3x!
Dan: go ahead, post this transcript on the thread
[smile]

I guess you mean you have soymilk at home or no milk, John?

Yeah, soy milk. I only ever use milk for cereal (where I have to actually taste it), so it doesn't make sense to have regular milk around, too.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 18:14 (seventeen years ago) link

I figured out why when you post to this thread it says that emails have been sent....

GEAUX BEARS. (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 19:17 (seventeen years ago) link

WHY? Don't keep us in suspense, bucko.

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 19:17 (seventeen years ago) link

Hint: my dead email address has 1500 emails from ILX. I don't recall subscribing though.

GEAUX BEARS. (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 19:19 (seventeen years ago) link

I give up!

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 19:20 (seventeen years ago) link

I liked mac & cheese growing up but my mom also used to make tuna casserole, which was basically mac & cheese with tuna fish in it, and to me that is like the worst food in the world. I think I would rather eat human flesh than tuna casserole. Seriously. It was one of those foods where my parents wouldn't let me leave the table until I ate it so I would sit there in the dark by myself refusing to eat my cold tuna fish casserole.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 19:22 (seventeen years ago) link

xpost Damn, I was really hoping someone had put one of the Chicago thread hataz email addresses in there.

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 19:23 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't want to be self-serving, but I'm thinking about creating a new thread, partially for this reason.

GEAUX BEARS. (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 19:23 (seventeen years ago) link

My mom used to make tuna casserole too, but it was bad ass: penne, some kind of white cheesy sauce, bread crumbs on top, lots of onions and celery... Mmmmm.
