all we did was pick up bags and drop em off / but nigga we was all lost / sip til we nod off / i aint never been in a beef that was called off / all you niggas lyin through your teeth cause you all soft / all you niggas weak knock off your beak with the sawed off / then have a couple drinks with the nigga that you call boss / seen an empire gettin built then it all fall / i just stay docked in the tilt til the stars call

not even sure wtf hes talkin about but i love it

he's a pretty unexciting rapper imo -- i don't know a single thing about his solo music tho

I wish Young L could rap.

I guess dude was in an ATL backpacker group called Supreeme. From the couple youtubes I checked out, they weren't that special.

gr8080, Sunday, 1 May 2011 22:26 (thirteen years ago) link

J0rdan S., Sunday, 1 May 2011 22:32 (thirteen years ago) link

also the song they played before it sounded really dope

J0rdan S., Sunday, 1 May 2011 22:32 (thirteen years ago) link

db tha general is great too -- his mixtape is long & samey but kid can spit -- he's like a lost hot boy

J0rdan S., Sunday, 1 May 2011 22:33 (thirteen years ago) link

ha. he sounds like lil boosie -- his tape is def long, i guess same-y only in the sense that its an entire tape of 80s throwback beats & references

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Sunday, 1 May 2011 22:35 (thirteen years ago) link

"i b on" is brilliant. dude has a cool voice - yeah just like boosie!

the square root of minus one is i something uhh (tpp), Sunday, 1 May 2011 22:36 (thirteen years ago) link

i don't think he raps like boosie tho

J0rdan S., Sunday, 1 May 2011 22:37 (thirteen years ago) link

nah not lyrically, just the grain of his voice

my fav thing abt feta cheese is how insistently the hook is slipped into the verses

Great track. Reminds me slightly of stuff off that Jacka and Laroo tape. That kind of poppy feel.

Everybody knows I'm no regular in the goon thread, but I like this (which I just randomly found clicking around on bandcamp). Of course that probably means no one here will like it, but... http://macboi.bandcamp.com/

flopson, Monday, 2 May 2011 19:14 (thirteen years ago) link

no! that's nice...

MN is weird just because Rhymesayers and Doomtree are so huge you actually don't hear about more mainstream gangsta dudes as much, though i see posters for shows going on at clubs sometimes

st paul slim (the 2nd dude) is great, he kinda fits in a weird space where he can move between the backpacker and gully worlds, like he could be on this but do a collab with atmosphere too

Lil' Buddy was the closest we ever came to having a mainstream hit, "Woo Woo" got some play on nat'l radio and BET and stuff...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzVncDz_SRc

Lil Buddy ended up going to jail for a bank robbery

Top Tone was another dude in the mid/late 90s more gangsta...I saw him at Wendy's in North Mpls a few years ago, he had a scarface movie jacket on

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7FBwhczKs8

Northside Hustlaz Clic was the oldest gangsta type group i remember:

New Juicy J tape 'Rubba Band Business 2'
http://www.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/13643/juicy_j_lex_luger_rubba_band_business_2.html

Way too much Lex Luger action for my liking, 20+ tracks of the same bass roll gets old, but feeling these so far:

Stoners Night
http://youtu.be/CJRhz4338GY

Paid For (f Curren$y)
http://youtu.be/zQ-qGGw27Os

Meet A G
http://youtu.be/wXH8Lwb91KA

REALLY liking Stoner's Night actually.
