there's one that's just him rapping over Johnny Guitar Watson's "Superman Lover", "Holla" is him rapping over "La La La La La (Means I Love You)", there's another couple I'm blanking on right now

Actually the whole thing sounds pretty massive. There's a track produced by Flying Lotus tho, haven't got to that yet.

Oh man, "Animals" has elephant sounds

the earlier or demo vers or w/e of this sounded better, they fucked up the chorus by adding whoever that female singer is imo

you'll be suprised to learn that i think elmatic by elzhi is totally awesome

i'm a fucking walking pair of Docs (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 17 May 2011 17:07 (twelve years ago) link

Elmatic is pretty fresh, the instrumentals are crisp and snappy, even at the low bit rate. Kind of hard to get too excited about homage albums, but this far exceeded my expectations. Some of the instrumental breakdowns are really refreshing, loving the endings of 'Lifes a Bitch,' 'The World Is Your's and 'One Love,' the latter sounds like something Isaac Hayes would have graced.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Tuesday, 17 May 2011 17:49 (twelve years ago) link

yeah deciding to rerecord the instrumentals with live band really makes it sing instead of just seeming like a boring mixtape, feels like an actual album

I mentioned it in the Jackie Chain thread, released on December 31, 2010 but I'm lumping it in as a 2011 release. It has a couple Block Beataz productions on it as well as a couple Burn One shots. He's part of the Alabama group Paper Route Gangstaz. Been playing it a lot throughout the year.
