Episode 7 was the best yet--finally made me take the plunge into reading the book(s).

1. Dany couldn't have been thrilled to hear Drogo promising to rape a bunch of Westeroi.

Benjen is apparently lost somewhere beyond the wall as his horse returned without him. No confirmation of the found hand's identity is yet made.

some of those craggy bearded guys can be easy to mix up. Benjen's missing - that's all we know about him right now.

(was talking to someone yesterday about Treme and he said give it another try; it's a slow burn but when it gets there it really gets there. And i'm like dude, to me game of thrones is a slow burn, so I don't know...)

littlefinger scene was Very HBO, but i liked the way he said 'play with her arse'

i thought tywin lannister's introduction was gangster as hell. skinning a stag - kinda groanworthy as a premise but in execution it was awesome. nice way to get across how methodical and unflinching he is, and from a staging perspective it was a lot more interesting to watch than just a static conversation.

i like the sort of classical feel of khal drogo waging war purely because they tried to assassinate the khalisi...thus ensuring they bring about their own worst fears.

enjoying this ALOT more now than i thought i would after the first episode, would probably enjoy it more if more static expo scenes were filmed w/ field dressing in the foreground rather than some whores. are the books quick/fun reads? ie something i could plausibly pull off this summer? very very very wary of fantasy in general (very happy to leave lotr to watching the movies and that's that). also should i be rooting for the klingons this much? basically am read to see all the white people die and snow zombies isn't really the way i want to see it done, much rather barbarian hordes.

The littlefinger scene was prob the first time I was annoyed by the gratuitous sex/nudity HBOness of it. I really hated that part and Laurel also otm about it earlier.

balls: after some extreme wariness about fantasy writing I have been enjoying the first book quite a bit. Definitely has helped me understand what's going on, but also a good breezy read.

Unlike other people here I am not going to read ahead of the show, though.

I might read ahead of the show if the cliffhanger is excruciating enough. Might just jump straight in on vol 2 though, sure I'll pick up any extra plot bits and pieces.

it reminded me of the first three seasons of the wire when they'd throw in a quick sweaty sex scene every now and then out of nowhere. only if instead they'd also had mcnulty thoroughly describe a flowchart of the barksdale organization while banging that waitress. every other week.

The show is good. The books are better. And i don't see why anyone who's enjoyed the show so far wouldn't enjoy the books even more.

Because you'd have to periodically look at the internet while reading them to get your lesbian fix.
