That mobbin through the west comp I got the husalah track off of is actually really consistent. Anyone check it out?

lebroner (D-40), Thursday, 2 June 2011 13:04 (twelve years ago) link

Yep, been spinning like crazy. The Jacka tracks standout + Im A Beast, Killin Em Slowly and We Run Da Streetz are nice. Really cohesive tho, like you said. Da Mob is obv the best song on there tho, maybe me favorite this year.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Thursday, 2 June 2011 15:04 (twelve years ago) link

That Dru Down video is major lulz too.

New Random Axe track 'Chewbacca' feat. Roc Marciano
http://soundcloud.com/duckdown/random-axe-chewbacca-feat-roc

Kinda sounds like a leftover from Marcberg but with Random Axe guest spots. Pretty damn good imo.

this is like some 2nd-rate Outkast shit but I love it, the piano loop especially. anything else out there that sounds like this right now?

S'cool bro, I only cried a little (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 7 June 2011 21:50 (twelve years ago) link

Lions & Lambs is basically Jazzy Belle, check the snare sound and vocal sample. That tape on a whole is a giant nod to early 'Kast, I really like it tho.

question: what's the best site for Bay raps? Thizzler?

rizzx, Friday, 10 June 2011 08:41 (twelve years ago) link

"roll up" gets stuck in my head all the time now. Good song

lebroner (D-40), Friday, 10 June 2011 13:46 (twelve years ago) link

"roll up" really rubs me the wrong way, it has all the 'mixtape rapper on a stargate track' awkwardness that he somehow avoided on "black & yellow," like i hear his stiff phrasing and sloppy meter and think about what rihanna could've done with that beat, shit even what katy perry could've done with that beat

some dude, Friday, 10 June 2011 15:35 (twelve years ago) link

I don't hear anything stiff about it, just a lil boring or basic

lebroner (D-40), Friday, 10 June 2011 16:25 (twelve years ago) link

Roll Up is pretty slick, but On My Level w Too $hort is a beast, great bass.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Friday, 10 June 2011 18:01 (twelve years ago) link

I wasn't as into that one

lebroner (D-40), Friday, 10 June 2011 18:16 (twelve years ago) link

"Roll Up" is a solid 7/10 summer jam. I get what Al is saying tho, but no way in hell would I prefer K. Perry (who I am back to hating).

The Reverend, Friday, 10 June 2011 18:58 (twelve years ago) link

okay I've been idly rolling through Husalah youtube and lol at that this one that samples the Carpenters "Rainy Days and Mondays"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVQKvEHHUuk&feature=related

kind of annoyed I haven't been able to find a d/l of that whole album over the past year

Ill drop it to you this weekend bro.

this and "gear" are my favorites off that album! incredible song and great album - i'm assuming "lol at" isn't meant in a bad way, haha. have you heard his new single, "da mob"? i think that'd be right up your alley

Grimy and awesome track, track + album both heavily rep'd by my friend Dave. Checking it out now.

Note: Canadian, female, grimy-as-fuck, little bit indie. Still worth checking, even if not traditionally 'gun sounds'.
