thanks for the mobile broadcast, ailsa!

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 16 April 2005 08:36 (nineteen years ago) link

Thanks, ailsa. I think I have decided to like my hair, or at least to stop whining about it. Although when I woke up this morning it looked scarily like ihttp://www.gokuboso.com/blog/archives/chucky.jpg

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 16 April 2005 08:55 (nineteen years ago) link

my phone died, ailsa.

I'm sorry I couldn't receive your call, if you called.

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 16 April 2005 11:03 (nineteen years ago) link

i want to see Cathy's hair!

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 16 April 2005 11:05 (nineteen years ago) link

I washed it and now I look like this again.

The upside is that Ally Cook is a very lovely man, today.

Passive Little Mooro (Mooro), Saturday, 16 April 2005 19:07 (nineteen years ago) link

I see how long this thread is and feel like trying Glasgow again, even.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Saturday, 16 April 2005 22:33 (nineteen years ago) link

I didn't mean he looked like Bez, rather that his role is to dance inconsquentially shaking a tambourine whilst others do the difficult stuff. (this may only be for one song, however, he does do stuff the rest of the time).

Cozen, I texted you after the match to apologise for not phoning you before it. You'll find out if your phone resurrects itself. I didn't know it had died, my condolences.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 17 April 2005 11:06 (nineteen years ago) link

http://www.kasule.co.uk/kasuleadvert.jpg

I might be trying this, in Glasgow.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Sunday, 17 April 2005 11:26 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm trying the extreme music from Finland next Friday myself.

DV (dirtyvicar), Sunday, 17 April 2005 12:20 (nineteen years ago) link

I would like to go to that. But then I would also like to go to the other thing, RJG has told me.

I do sing a chorus too, on that song. It's not completely inconsequential. I can't do difficult things.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 17 April 2005 16:27 (nineteen years ago) link

Yes you can, you can spell inconsequential, which is more than I can manage, apparently.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 17 April 2005 19:58 (nineteen years ago) link

I met Cozen at Dolly Mixture. He was rather freaked out!
That was a cool night. Three cheers for Sharon and her team and Dot To Dot!

Stew (stew s), Sunday, 17 April 2005 21:30 (nineteen years ago) link

I didn't meet Lauren at Dolly Mixture, but I stood next to her for a bit without knowing who she was, and RJG said "Have you met Lauren" but she left. Oh well.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 17 April 2005 21:37 (nineteen years ago) link

it was nice to meet you, stew.

I was a little freaked out, but good freaked.

it was nice to meet you, too, lauren.

hi nick!

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 18 April 2005 09:28 (nineteen years ago) link

thank you for the book. it made the ride home that much more pleasant.

at this point, i fear that i'll never meet jed.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 18 April 2005 09:58 (nineteen years ago) link

It is remarkable and good that Dot to Dot get so much better as time goes by without ever actually hearing them. I feel sorry for thsoe of you who have heard them and cannot share in my joy and amazement at their improvement.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 18 April 2005 10:44 (nineteen years ago) link

I have got an mp3, of Dot to Dot!

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 18 April 2005 12:55 (nineteen years ago) link

Go on, tell them all you described it as

"superior jingle-jangle with a manic edge."

Some cookie96 fans would probably prefer their edges more Manc than Manics.

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 18 April 2005 13:40 (nineteen years ago) link

Yes, I thought it was going to be post-punk angular funk, like The Pop Group or something. But it now transpires that it is in fact superior jingle-jangle with a manic edge. Identifiably Glaswegian, I thought, kind of like The Sound of Young Scotland with senile dementia. I'm not surprised Murdoch likes it, the self-perpertuating ponce. Is Cookie96(tears) singing? I thought the chorus was very good. Well done, Dot to Dot. I think you should get a SUPPORT SLOT.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 18 April 2005 14:08 (nineteen years ago) link

On Friday, we supported ourselves. Quite successfully. We will almost certainly come to London this summer. Begin the preparations.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 18 April 2005 16:16 (nineteen years ago) link

sorry i missed you lauren. my excuse is boring as well as rubbish so i'll spare you it.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 18 April 2005 16:21 (nineteen years ago) link

Come to Maidenhead! Captive audience at Smokey Joe's!

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 11:02 (nineteen years ago) link

Am I right that Maaaaster Haaaapkins is coming to Glasgow on Friday?

KeefW (kmw), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 17:52 (nineteen years ago) link

Haaapkins begins the Devonian crusade in two moons time I believe.

I would like an MP3 of dot to dot, I think it would be a hoot

Porkpie (porkpie), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:04 (nineteen years ago) link

He gets in Friday lunchtime I think, and I can't leave work until four so if anyone without a job wants to entertain him for a bit please feel free.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:06 (nineteen years ago) link

Cool. I won't be drinking cider, but I will visit; although I do have a job so it'll be later. Maybe a cider-drinking crusty could entertain him by juggling, in the meantime. Can we assume 'plans' will be posted here?

KeefW (kmw), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:09 (nineteen years ago) link

I would like to take Tim to the Steps on Glassford Street. Probably just for one, because I think it's a Tennents pub, but I think he'll appreciate the decor.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 18:29 (nineteen years ago) link

One Step closer to Belhaven.

I know. I know.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 20:32 (nineteen years ago) link

!

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 07:39 (nineteen years ago) link

wow. it's freezing here so any heat would be an improvement.

I get over on Friday morning at about 9, such are the times of cheap flights.

Is Tim going to come to the Arches?

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 08:19 (nineteen years ago) link

I don't know. There is football in Carlisle the next day, so bedtimes may have to be taken into account if he's feeling old and codgerish. Shall I text him?

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 09:11 (nineteen years ago) link

what are you doing during the day on friday, ro?

I get home thursday night.

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 10:20 (nineteen years ago) link

my back hurts.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 10:24 (nineteen years ago) link

football update:

Exeter can still reach the playoffs IF:

1. they beat Carlisle
2. any two of Morecombe, Aldershot and Stevenage don't win and/or also that Woking don't win by more than 4 goals than we do...

Exeter have the hardest game of the five teams fighting for the last two play-off slots...

i don't think i'm speaking out of turn to say that Mr H will definitely be attending said match...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 10:28 (nineteen years ago) link

I can't support Exeter, but I will keep my mouth shut :)

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 11:36 (nineteen years ago) link

Will Rozen/Conan be in the pub on Friday afternoon? That would be an incentive to leave work early, perhaps.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 11:54 (nineteen years ago) link

Ronan. where are you staying?

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 12:02 (nineteen years ago) link

turns out I have an interview at 9.30 on friday, in aberdeen.

I should be in glasgow before, hopefully, 3pm.

afternoon pub is plausible. bagsy being conan.

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 13:23 (nineteen years ago) link

Mayer tickets are only £10 in advance (if paid with cash) from the Arches. I might go and get some after work. Who wants me to get one for them?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 13:33 (nineteen years ago) link

me, please.

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 13:35 (nineteen years ago) link

I am staying in my sister's, it's here

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=254943&y=667551&z=1&sv=woodcroft+avenue&st=6&tl=Woodcroft+Avenue,+Glasgow,+G_11&searchp=newsearch.srf&mapp=newmap.srf

where is here? pretty central I guess.

I think pub on Friday afternoon would be good, though maybe not all day until the Arches.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 13:56 (nineteen years ago) link

Here is West End, not too far from town.

Nick, I suppose you should get me a ticket too. Is anyone going out to watch the footie tonight? I might.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 14:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Ronan, I work in the big yellow gap to the left of Chamberlain Road in the top left square! I would invite you to join me on the number 44 into town, but I suspect you'll have been in the pub for a couple of hours by then.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 14:20 (nineteen years ago) link

I may be back home again, I don't know it's hard to plan!

Is it a bus journey away then? Or taxi? I really can't wait for this little trip, I haven't been away for a weekend in 9 months or so.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 14:29 (nineteen years ago) link

sorry I mean, I may be back at my sister's, after a few hours, on my way back in!

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 14:30 (nineteen years ago) link

Nick, I suppose you should get me a ticket too.

Such enthusiasm in one so old!

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 14:30 (nineteen years ago) link

Pl keep other out-of-towners posted abt the pub venue on Friday - I'm off to see the hairy Finnish hippies in the evening, but it wld be nice to have a drink w/ the ILX diaspora in the afternoon - cheers

I trust everyone who has posted on this thread is going to see Double Leopards and Wolf Eyes on Saturday

Andrew L w/ a fucked password, Wednesday, 20 April 2005 14:32 (nineteen years ago) link

it is a bit away from the underground line. there are buses, yes, or trains, even. it is a bit away from the centre centre--it'd be a fair old walk. not too far from the west end, proper, though.

I hope I feel better, by the weekend.

get me a ticket, please, nick.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 14:33 (nineteen years ago) link

The 44 will take you into town in about 20 minutes - you could get it on Crow Road or Clarence Drive. Cheaper than a taxi at one pound! And it's quite a nice ride, past the other university and a dinosaur.

Anyway, haven't heard from Tim yet. He is obviously a diligent worker.
