i am 'down south' until the 3rd jan :-(

Ward Fowler, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 10:36 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm off work until the 5th, so I could probably make it to a Festive FAP.

treefell, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 11:27 (fifteen years ago) link

I am in glasgow area between Christmas and Hogmanay.

straight outta Easter Compton (aldo), Wednesday, 17 December 2008 12:34 (fifteen years ago) link

I'll be back on the 27th. Does anyone fancy larging it with me at that FAC 51 thing?

Madchen, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 13:08 (fifteen years ago) link

I've considered it, but I fear it will be absolutely appalling :/

grimly fiendish, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 15:12 (fifteen years ago) link

My plan would be to get so drunk it doesn't matter.

Madchen, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 17:26 (fifteen years ago) link

I am not sure what between Xmas and New Year plans are yet, but if I'm around, would be up for fappage. I'm in up in Inverness for Christmas, but am not sure if we're staying up for New Year or not. So I vote for Grimly's after-Hogmanay plan as well!

ailsa, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 17:42 (fifteen years ago) link

Was that not last Sat? Is there another? Xp

stet, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 17:55 (fifteen years ago) link

It got moved, according to a poster I saw somewhere yesterday.

ailsa, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 18:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeh, it was meant to be last Saturday. I was quite pleased: I was away, so couldn't have gone, and didn't need to feel guilty about betraying the Spirit of Wilson.

To be honest, though, I think the Spirit of Wilson would think the whole thing was gonna suck dick. I mean, it'll be full of ageing professional northerners girning about people playing the wrong mixes (ie cunts exactly like me).

grimly fiendish, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 18:12 (fifteen years ago) link

I had an early night instead, and was up with the lark yesterday to do a mountain of washing. This is, perhaps, the very definition of old.

A mate just rang me and asked where (other than the Apple Store) I'd go to get an iBook repaired in Glasgow. Good question: the Apple Store's kind of wiped out a lot of the competition.

So: has anyone got any computer-repair recommendations to share? (Personally, I think he should just take it to the Apple Store, but hey.)

is the shop at the whiteinch end of dumbarton road closed?

ur bisexual btw (cozwn), Thursday, 8 January 2009 15:01 (fifteen years ago) link

Didn't know about that one ... hmm, is that the one Stet referred to as being "in Maryhill", I wonder? Any idea what it was called?

Special topics: Disco, The Common Market (grimly fiendish), Thursday, 8 January 2009 15:05 (fifteen years ago) link

"in maryhill" o_O

um, I can't remember its name sorry : /

ur bisexual btw (cozwn), Thursday, 8 January 2009 15:07 (fifteen years ago) link

I think it was called justmac but it appears the dumbarton rd. store closed in 2006

however http://www.justmac.co.uk/ : D

ur bisexual btw (cozwn), Thursday, 8 January 2009 15:09 (fifteen years ago) link

Maybe Stet said "in Clydebank" and this is getting twisted through all manner of "yeh, someone said X said Y said Z" nonsense. Or it could be me, being a cock. Either way: Stet appears to be OTM, as indeed do you. Thanks.

I did say in Clydebank, you chod.

stet, Thursday, 8 January 2009 16:34 (fifteen years ago) link

Aye, well, even a stopped clock is right twice a day <ducks>

PAIN JERK + EMERALDS @ the CCA on Tuesday 20th Jan

DAVID GRUBBS @ Mono on Wednesday 21st Jan

am also going to see THE MONKS documentary @ the GFT on Sunday 25th Jan 7.40pm

Ward Fowler, Sunday, 18 January 2009 16:17 (fifteen years ago) link

I'll be at the CCA on Tuesday night. Down front taking photos, probably wearing a scruffy blue cycling jacket & carrying a khaki messenger bag. Say hello!

krakow, Sunday, 18 January 2009 19:44 (fifteen years ago) link

I was there, precisely fitting my above description. No one said hello. :-(

krakow, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 07:51 (fifteen years ago) link

See? Glaswegians. Unfriendly as f***.

Keith, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 18:21 (fifteen years ago) link

to see the japanese noise band?

cozwn, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 18:32 (fifteen years ago) link

No offence, Krakow: much as I would have been interested to meet you and find out what Pain Jerk + Emeralds sound like, it clashed with something quite interesting on telly.

Madchen, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 18:56 (fifteen years ago) link

sorry krakow, i have not been v. well for the last couple of days so i didn't make it along to pain jerk (and i'm not going to grubbsy tonight) - wld love to hear a report, esp. gutted to have missed emeralds

will def. be going to instal, so maybe an ilx-related hookup then?

Ward Fowler, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 19:38 (fifteen years ago) link

talking of instal, there is a slightly more substantial line-up given in the latest wire - herman nitsch, ultra-red, sachiko m & otomo yoshihide, joan la barbara, radu malfatti & klaus filip, phil minton's 100 member feral choir, jerome noetinger & jean philipp gross, tetsuo kogawa, rolf julius

Ward Fowler, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 19:42 (fifteen years ago) link

Ah, if no-one was there, then fair enough, all is cool. I thought there were secret ilxors hiding in the shadows ignoring me.

Yeah. I'm up for Instal.

Hello Glasgow. Was in the pub with some Glasgow types last night, and thought it might be a good idea to try and do some more drinking. So, erm, should we try to do some drinking in the same place at the same time one day?

ailsa, Sunday, 1 February 2009 10:11 (fifteen years ago) link

^ this.

After last night I don't think I want to touch alcohol ever again.

Madchen, Sunday, 1 February 2009 22:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Ach, it was fun. But I might have to detox for a few weeks before doing it again :-)

ailsa, Sunday, 1 February 2009 22:40 (fifteen years ago) link

You pair of lightweights.

Special topics: Disco, The Common Market (grimly fiendish), Sunday, 1 February 2009 22:43 (fifteen years ago) link

I am Out of Practice - first proper actual drinking session of 2009, that. Also had shared a bottle of wine over dinner before even getting to pub.

anyone got a grudge against stereo? what about this coming weekend?

jed_, Monday, 2 February 2009 00:27 (fifteen years ago) link

no grudge against Stereo, they do real beer, none of yr weird Sam Smiths shite - also nearer train station than Mono Seats are a bit wobbly and it has a tendency to be a bit busy though.

ailsa, Monday, 2 February 2009 00:31 (fifteen years ago) link

^ insert full stop between Mono and Seats.

ailsa, Monday, 2 February 2009 00:31 (fifteen years ago) link

true but if you get the sofa you are set for the night.

also, the staff are decent and some are actually pleasant! it's hard to believe it's a mono offshoot.

jed_, Monday, 2 February 2009 00:34 (fifteen years ago) link

seats are from ikea is why they're wobbly.

jed_, Monday, 2 February 2009 00:35 (fifteen years ago) link

the food is pretty dece too

cozwn, Monday, 2 February 2009 00:36 (fifteen years ago) link

three weeks pass...

Chris Corsano, Heather Leigh Murray Duo, RM Hubbert and Burnt Altar, Sat 28 Feb 7:30pm, Stereo, Glasgow, 0141 222 2254 £5

- saw corsano/murray at the CCA a cpl of months back and they were awesomely awesome, dunno the other two acts on the bill

my clubbing pal who used to run the 'open' nights up here is also taking me to see monolake at the sub club on friday 6th, wld love to score some smarties for that

Ward Fowler, Thursday, 26 February 2009 22:07 (fifteen years ago) link

FAP plan disintegrated, didn't it? Shall we try again? I'm not organising, like.

ailsa, Thursday, 26 February 2009 22:30 (fifteen years ago) link

What's Heather's contribution to the duo? Is Corsano on straight-up drumming?

krakow, Friday, 27 February 2009 07:52 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah, last time round corsano was full on improv attack and heather was screamy guitaring

Ward Fowler, Friday, 27 February 2009 20:41 (fifteen years ago) link
